Ravenblade moves around the base of the pyramid (R14) and then charges back up to the spot that Amyria just vacated (o14). He misses.

Knowing the end is drawing near for the evil gnoll in front of her as all of the companions gather around, Amyria raises her sword to finish her off. It flashes down with a bright brilliance matched only by Amyria's eyes and... misses.

Crusader's Assault on Fangren 1d20+18+2+1=24, 1d8+8+1d6=20 Hits 24 vs. AC for 20 total damage, and on a hit, Ravenblade gets a free basic attack vs. Fangren.

"Oh no! Not again!" says Ravenblade as he sees Daggoth slump to the floor.

OOC: Josh, I can have Ravenblade evasive strike hit Fangren, shift to Daggoth's side, and pour him the potion I got off Salazar's bandolier two turns ago. How many surges does Daggoth have left anyhow? We could also both give him a potion. Another option is for Amyria to heal him is she still has some healing left.

At a nod from Mal, Ravenblade bashes hif avalanche craghammer into Fangren's side. Although not drawing any blood, the ranger uses the momentum of his weapon bouncing off to evade a counter-attack and slide over to Daggoth's side. He then unclips the healing potion he took from Salazar and pours it's contents into the dragonborn's mouth. As always the dwarf prepares to move away if threatened (ready weave through the fray).

1d20+11+1+2=18, 2d10.minroll(3)+8=22, 1d6=5 Evasive strike with flanking and 24 h bonus

OOC: Evasive strike attack misses. Ravenblade shifts to L13 after missing as part of the power. Two minor actions to ready and pour the healing potion. Daggoth goes up to 10 hp and uses up one of his healing surges. Yup, you called it Marek. We're rolling as bad or worse than that very first battle of this campaign in Rivenroar.

The group's weariness is showing. Both Ravenblade and Mal miss Fangren, but Ravenblade is able to maneuver to Daggoth's side and revive him with a potion.

The deva lays her hands on Daggoth and he regains 21 HP. She then strikes Fangren for 14 damage and allows Salazar to blast the gnoll as well.

OOC:Salazar gets a free basic attack.

As long as their leader still lives, the gnoll archers continue to shoot. One arrow hits Amyria for 12 damage.

Salazar blasts the gnoll and feels his confidence soar as the shaman crumples to the floor lifeless. As the portal closes and the demonic claw recedes, relief flows through the party.

Seeing their leader dead on the floor, the two archers turn and run away.

Ravenblade sits on the steps of the pyramid leading up to the altar, trying to recover. He makes sure to stay away from the altar itself for now. Eventually, after resting enough (using last healing surge to heal), he gets up and searches the corpses, knowing that this duty is always left for the short dwarf.

2d6=6 Healing surge bonus from Mal's power. Forgot to add the +4.

OOC: Ravenblade heals 15+6+4=25 and is now at 51/62 hp. We should buy some of those scrolls that I gave Azad in PoL, which allow redistribution of surges between party members.

Edit: With the level 8 bonuses, Ravenblade heals 17+6+5+1=29. The last +1 is due to an extra hp from boosting CON. HP is now at 55/68. Boosting CON also grants and additional healing surge, leaving him at 1/9 surges, so ready for the next boss battle!!!!

After the rush of the battle is over, you take some time to look at the dead. In addition to her weapon and clothes, on Myrissa you find some black pearls worth about 1,500 gold and a small silver figurine of crow also worth about 1,500 gold. Beside the altar, you find two small figurines: one of a hawk and one of a dog.

      Hedoni can tell that the altar and this room still sizzle with potent magical properties. This ancient ritual chamber sits atop a nexus of arcane energy. The wizard understands that the githzerai who built it did so to protect a long-dormant energy conduit that links the site to both the Elemental Chaos and the Astral Sea.

      Hedoni takes a look closer at the foes and notice something odd about the abyssal wretches. First of all, they certainly were not gnolls. Although they had been transformed by Fangren into their current misshapen and mutated forms, most seem to have either human, elven, or dwaven features. Also, they all differ from all the other enemies you've encounter in this fortress, they are all men, or rather boys, from the looks of their size.

      As he searches the bodies, the dwarf notices that all the wretches were not gnolls. Although they were corrupted and twisted by Fangren's powers, originally they seem to have been boys.


The deva strolls over to Myrissa’s body and also examines her things. She holds Myrissa’s clothes up to her body and says to herself “This will do for now,” and proceeds to dress herself in Myrissa's clothes.

She turns to Mal and concentrates for a moment before responding “My name is … Amyria. Yes, I remember that I am Amyria,” she says softly, “and I have lived many lives. I was in the sword. I remember you freed me. You sealed the planar breach in this place, allowing the portal to channel the energy of the Astral Sea. Energy necessary for my transformation.” She looks to you, eyes bright. “I have been reborn with purpose, even if that purpose is yet unclear to me. Please excuse my confusion, but other than slaying these foul dogs, I cannot say what you should do.”
