They worked with Zilargo and House Lyrandar to make elemental ships, with House Sivis to establish message stations (789 YK) and then with House Orien to develop the lightning rail (first line in 811 YK). During the Last War, House Cannith began producing the warforged (in 965 YK), making them the most influential House. When Cyre was destroyed by The Mourning, it took the head of House Cannith, Baron Starrin d'Cannith, as well as the headquarters and many of the Cannith forges. The Treaty of Thronehold gave warforged their freedom and banned the use of the creation forges. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:53 pm. »

House Ghallanda

Race(s): Halfling
Paragon Path: Ghallanda Sanctuary Guardian
Head of House: Baron Yoren d'Ghallanda

Major Locations: Gatherhold on Lake Cyre in the Talenta Plains (main HQ); Ghallanda Hall in Sharn; Wandering Inn
History: The first recorded dragonmarks were those that appeared on the halflings of the Talenta Plains 3200 years ago. This came to be known as the Mark of Hospitality and those halflings came together, taking the name Ghallanda, the "helpful hounds." When Karrn the Conqueror tried to conquer all of Khorvaire, the Mark of Hospitality was discovered and House Ghallanda was brought into the rest of Khorvaire society. Soon, House Ghallanda spread across the continent building inns and enclaves everywhere they went. During the Last War, House Ghallanda initially just supported House Deneith mercenaries. With their success in keeping those mercenaries fed and rested, other armies began hiring House Ghallanda members more directly. The members of the House attempted to avoid combat, but their close proximity to the armies would occasionally require them to engage in combat. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:54 pm. »

Major Locations: Vedykar Enclave in Karrnath (HQ); Great Healing Hall in Sharn; Hall of a Thousand Mirrors in Newthrone, Q'barra
History: The Mark of Healing developed shortly after the Mark of Hospitality and was also discovered by Karrn the Conqueror. House Jorasco integrated themselves with the rest of Khorvaire and have very few ties to the halflings of the Talenta Plains. The healing of Jorasco has always required a price, and in The Last War, every army ended up with Jorasco medics helping them out. One requirement (other than large payments) was that the medics be considered noncombatants, however, on occasion a medic would have to fight for its life. The Medics Guild was started 50 years ago, to provide properly trained and equipped healers for the armies. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:54 pm. »

History: The Mark of Warding developed on Clan Kundarak about 2500 years ago. After Karrn the Conqueror subjugated the dwarves of the Mror Holds, the Mark of Warding was discovered. In 106 YK, with the help of House Sivis and Zilargo, House Kundarak was recognized as a House and eventually took over the entire finance system of Khorvaire. When the Mror Holds declared their independence from Karrnath in 914 YK in The Last War, they were able to do so with the financial help of House Kundarak. House Kundarak loaned much of the money that flowed in The Last War, and the Treaty of Thronehold required all nations to make good on their obligations, guaranteeing House Kundarak with an ongoing income source. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:55 pm. »

History: The Mark of Storm appeared 2000 years ago on two half-elves, Lyran and Selavash. The children of these two, the Lyran'dar, became their own House. In 347 YK, House Lyrandar took possession of Stormhome, unusual for a House, since they are generally not supposed to own property. House Lyrandar used their connection to the elements to create elemental galleons with the gnomes of Zilargo. By The Last War, elemental galleons became extremely useful in trade between nations and travel to other continents. During The Last War, Lyrandar agreed to make mild changes to weather, for a price, in order to grow crops, but they refused to harm armies. Stormhome became a neutral meeting place for spies and ambassadors and they began making stormships (elemental galleon battleships). In 990 YK, the gnomes of Zilargo and House Lyrandar combined to produce elemental airships. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:55 pm. »

History: The Mark of Detection appeared 1500 years ago on a few half-elf families in Breland in the middle of the War of the Mark. Because of this, it was initially suspected to be an aberrant mark when it was discovered by House Cannith. The families with the mark did not want to join the politics of greater Khorvaire, but eventually agreed to become a full dragonmarked House. House Medani is seen as having close ties to the Brelish crown and are extremely good at investigating troublemakers and apprehending spies. During The Last War, House Medani ended up performing counterintelligence for Breland. House Medani remains the smallest of the Houses, even after House Phiarlan split in two. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:55 pm. »

They have spent much of their time and effort since then developing new routes and laying out new conductor stones. In 845 YK, King Jarot initiated a building project to connect all of Khorvaire by Lightning Rail, and within 20 years the civilized areas were. House Orien also developed teleportation circles for fast, easy travel. During The Last War, Orien's influence was hurt by the destruction of bridges, Lightning Rail lines, and the development of elemental airships by House Lyrandar. Orien has since focused more on its teleportation circles. Also, House Orien has members of many races, including elves, half-elves, eladrin, half-orcs, doppelgangers and shifters, although only humans ever develop the Mark of Passage. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:56 pm. »

History: The Mark of Shadow developed 3200 years ago on the elves known as "phiarlans" or "spirit keepers." These elves had served as spies for the Undying Court even before the Mark of Shadow appeared. Within a few hundred years, House Vol (Mark of Death) was destroyed and the Phiarlans fled Aerenal to Khorvaire. Since then, they have served as artisans, spies, and assassins. During the Last War, House Phiarlan served every nation, but some of the families gained preferences for certain nations. The Paelion family was almost completely wiped out by the Thuranni family during the Shadow Schism. The Thurannis ended up splitting off entirely in 972 YK, forming a new House mostly of assassins, while House Phiarlan maintained its spy capabilities. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:56 pm. »

In addition, they decided to never divulge the secrets of their clients. House Sivis found the Mark of Finding on half-orcs and humans in the Shadow Marches and helped bring them into The Twelve as House Tharashk in 498 YK. In 783 YK, Tasker Torralyn d'Sivis invented the first speaking stones and employed them in message stations starting in 789 YK. During The Last War, House Sivis was able to maintain its neutrality and transmitted messages for all armies, while never divulging the contents to their enemies. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:57 pm. »

Major Locations: Zarash'ak in the Shadow Marches (HQ); Graywall in Droaam (Liondrake's Roar)
History: The Mark of Finding developed about 1000 years ago on 3 clans in the Shadow Marches: the Torrns, Velderans, and Aashtas. About 500 years ago, House Sivis went searching for the dragonmark after rumors of supernatural hunters made their way across Khorvaire. After the gnomes found the dragonmark, they helped the clans join together and become a part of Khorvaire at large. The clans decided on the name House Tharashk, which comes from a goblin word meaning "united." House Tharashk began prospecting for dragonshards across the continent, helping them increase influence quickly. During The Last War, House Tharashk moved beyond prospecting and began offering search and rescue services. As the war drug on and Droaam kicked Breland out, House Tharashk formed strong ties with the more monstrous races and began hiring them out as mercenaries. This has put them at odds with House Deneith, who had previously held a near monopoly on mercenaries. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:57 pm. »

History: Much of House Thuranni's history is the same as House Phiarlan. The Thuranni family acted as the assassins of House Phiarlan and in 972 YK, turned on the Paelion family, assassinating most of them. Baron Elvinor Elorrenthi d'Phiarlan excoriated the entire Thuranni family, but Elar Thuranni refused this judgement. The Thurannis then declared themselves a new House and after several years, The Twelve agreed. During the Last War, most House Thuranni jobs were performed for Karrnath and they are still strongly tied to that nation. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:56 pm. »

Major Locations: Foalswood near Varna in the Eldeen Reaches (HQ); The Hearth near Wroat, Breland (a ranch)
History: The Mark of Handling developed 1800 years ago on humans that had settled in the Eldeen Reaches. House Vadalis saw this as a gift from the Sovereign Host. However, the Seryan line concentrated on making living weapons, which they used in the War of the Mark. These creations were outlawed after the War of the Mark by the new Council of the Twelve. House Vadalis has settled into breeding mounts and livestock. During The Last War, House Vadalis provided mounts for all of the nations. After the Eldeen Reaches seceded from Aundair, House Vadalis managed to stay out of that conflict and still takes no side. After Valenar was established, Balinor's Heart began trying to capture their horses, but never was successful. Because of this, the Valenar elves do not allow House Vadalis in their lands and regard anyone from Vadalis suspiciously. _______________ Mal Geminous - Tiefling Warlord, Scales of War Corydimbiddle - Gnome Artificer, Points of Light « Last edit by Josh on Tue Dec 29, 2009 9:57 pm. »
