"This thing just won't die..."

Variel takes aim with is bow and fires off another volley of arrows. With a nod, SAMAV shoots out and advances on the arthropod.

Actions:
Standaard: Twin Strike against Giant Centipede (1d20+10+1=16, 1d10+1=4, 1d20+10+1=26, 1d10+1=7, 1d6=5) (24HR)
Attacks hit AC 16 for 4 and AC 26 for 7+5 (HQ) = 12 damage.
Move: SAMAV to E13
OOC: New install on the netbook. No ready statblock, sorry.

OOC: We're leaving for the airport in an hour, so looks like we won't wrap this officially before Emily and I go.

In any case, you guys are very close to finishing this centipede off (Uriah probably can't, but it isn't likely to have two more turns). Once you finish this fight, you will be leveling up to level 3. Please use this time to level your characters up so that once Emily and I return we can finish this off quickly and be ready to move on.

Uriah continues blasting at the centipede, dodging between its legs as it thrashes.

OOC: Visions of blood, 16 vs. Will for 6 damage and -1 to defenses TSNT if that hits.

Magda tries to afix her seal on the monster, but isn't strong enough. She musters the last of her divine resources to heal Takeo and feels her strength flow out of her body.

Standard: Astral Seal hits Reflex 13 on centipede. astral seal (1d20+8+1=13) Until the end of your next turn, the target takes a 2 penalty to all defenses. The next ally who hits it before the end of your next turn regains 3 hit points.

"Ahhhh. Thanks, Mags, err, Magda. I really needed that." Takeo expresses and quickly amends his too familiar use of her name. "You don't look so well. Stay back and I'll do my best to keep you from harm. Don't know if I can do the same for Korrin though."

OOC: Jon, if you want to ready an attack with trigger flanking I can have Takeo shift down a space at the beginning of his turn.

Korrin's hammer rises, then waits for Takeo to move into position before smashing down.

Takeo is about to kick the centipede's carapace and notices just in time that Korrin is holding his hammer up ready, waiting before attacking. He thinks for a moment, then shifts down to catch the beast between them. After Korrin's hammer drops, Takeo jumps up and kicks the centipede hard enough for it's antennae to quiver in pain.

Move: shift to B12

Magda's usual cheery demeanor is evicted by claustrophobia, "Come on. Let's get out of this dark hole. Ugh, it's too cramped; I can barely move. Can someone bring the unconscious captive outside? Winged Dawn, but I need to see the sky."

OOC: I say we leave the mite lair with the kobold captive, return to Oleg's place to rest and question the kobold there.

"I feel a strange affinity for the earth and wind in this place, almost as if the eternal nature of the ground and other elements is invigorating." comments Takeo, oddly uplifted at the centipede's death, oblivious to his wounds and being covered in blood, innards, and filth. For some reason, he thinks to look directly at Uriah while feeling so. He then picks up the kobold with ease and begins moving towards the crevasse, first walking, then jogging, then running. "I practically feel like I can flyyyyy!" he exclaims as he soars over the gap and lands easily on the opposite side. Turning around, he shouts back. "Master Otori was right! Meditation is good, but practice is better! I'll see you all outside!" and then dashes off.

OOC: Here's my level 3 statblock. I went with all the changes I proposed in the level up thread. All of Takeo's attacks are now enemy only and either bursts or blasts. I was reluctant to give up Spinning Leopard Maneuver, but figure I can switch back if I miss it.

"Eternal nature of the ground?" echoes Uriah, incredulously. He takes two strides over to the nearest wall and gives it a firm kick with his hobnailed boots. A shower of loose dirt falls from overhead, where tendrils of roots poke through from the trees somewhere above. "Even the iron halls of the Mountain Kings, built and maintained by the greatest Dwarven artisans for centuries beyond counting, are not what they were just fifty years ago. This place, blindly carved by dumb beasts, could collapse at any time." He looks ready to carry on in this vein for some time, but Takeo has already leapt over the crevice, and it appears no one is listening. Grumbling under his breath, Uriah turns to searching as well.

Uriah's comments about the tunnels collapsing, illustrated by the shower of dirt, only magnifies Magda's anxiety. "Ah, don't do that!" she yells at Uriah. "Do you want to suffocate us under an avalanche of dusty, dark, decomposed-mite filled dirt?" She shudders at the thought.

As quick at she can, the cleric follows Variel's suggestion and scurries after Takeo out of the lair.

Korrin, Uriah, and Variel search the area. There's nothing of note amongst the effects of the mites, and the dead bodies of the three tortured kobolds hold even less. In the depths of the crevasse is nothing but refuse and half-eaten kobold bones.

However, Variel recognizes the corpse of the centipede itself as valuable. Enough of the creature's chitinous hide survived the beating the party gave it to add carapace pieces to a suit of armor and give the wearer some resistance to acid such as the centipede spewed in life.

OOC: Any single non-magical armor, including cloth armor, can be upgraded to a suit of Armor of Resistance (Acid) +1. Let me know who you decide will take it.

Takeo is lying on the ground outside of the mite warren, fast asleep in the shadow cast by birch tree, the still unconscious kobold lying next to him. He doesn't even wake up when Variel attaches several pieces of centipede carapace onto his clothes, blending them with the fiber, and granting him unique extra protection.

OOC: The armor is fine with me. I haven't looked at cloth armor options closely and I'm happy to go with the flow of the story and the other PC's decision.

It takes the a full day of travel and on into the next morning before you arrive back at Oleg's, just before noon. The kobold has, for the duration of the journey, remained nothing by a small yet annoying burden. The creature shows some signs of stirring soon, though, as Takeo and Korrin pass him back and forth in shifts. Perhaps he'll come to soon.

Thoughts of the kobold rapidly leave your minds, however, when you approach the trading post to see two armed humans eying you warily from the parapet. Both wear scale mail, have spears on their backs, and - most importantly - a longbow drawn and trained on you.

"Halt!" one of the humans, a woman with dark black hair and a Brevic accent shouts. She eyes you all suspiciously. "Who approaches this fort armed as if to storm the walls?"

Magda shouts back "We are friends of Oleg and Svetlana. We aided them against some attackers not three days ago. We also aided Brother Jhod and sent him here with Dav, Erich, Igor and Helmut. Who are you and where is Oleg? Did Jhod arrive safely?" She tries to keep the worry out of her voice and figure out who these new people are. Insight; Diplomacy (1d20+10+1=17, 1d20+9+1=25)

OOC: Shoot, do we have to choose a group name now?
