OOC: Yes, I didn't catch that, thanks. Thinking on it now, I wonder if it should just be 2 damage though from the first two shrouds since it was kind of a missed attack. Then again, it's not that the attack missed, it just missed the shrouded target. Stupid rules. I'll just make it 8 damage for now and hope this scenario never comes up again. :D Updated above.

Harkin destroys the penultimate rotter. The clay shambler shifts away, heads for the doors and pulls one ajar. It starts blubbering unintelligible sounds out loud. The ghastly being's claws rake across Demuriath's skin, inflicting 8 damage (3 after temp). A terrible cold grips the assassin and he feels himself immobilized (save ends).

OOC: Harkin actually did 14 damage on the rotter because of the MW bonus. No different outcome of course, but dang we keep forgetting about that MW. ;) Any order.

Edeya moves to engage the ghastly being, but despite a powerful kick the creature is able to withstand the blow. Demuriath, chagrined, turns his attention to the ghastly being as well. His blade cuts into its flesh and the creature flinches in pain and looks around for the assassin, confused that he suddenly disappeared.

Not able to see Demuriath anymore, the ghastly being looks around in confusion for a moment. Focusing it's eyes on Edeya, it swings a claw at her but it fails to penetrate her clothing. It then flinches in pain as it takes 5 more damage from Harkin's lingering lightning.

Demuriath, invisible, places another shroud on the ghast, then invokes them and tries to slice it.

Standard: Shadow storm 1d20+10+2+1+1=19, 1d12+7+3+3=14 Hits AC 19 for 14 damage. Completely forgot to invoke roll the shroud damage, so 2d6=8. 22 damage on a hit, 3 on a miss.

Despite all the advantages of his attack, Demuriath's blade fails to penetrate the ghastly's skin. However, one of his shadows constricts to cause a little damage. At least the movement has loosened his body (1d20+1=21 saved vs immobilized) and the injured creature hisses at him as he turns visible again.

Edeya makes a thunderous effort at a feint, before kicking the daylights from out under the ghastly being. It falls down hard and expels a <whoosh> of breath as the githzerai follows through with a flurried punch to its gut. Blood bubbles out of its mouth and it quickly chokes to death.

OOC: The party gains 1000 xp for a group total of 19000. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'VE REACHED LEVEL 4!!!! The party needs 27500 xp to reach level 5. This was the last encounter before our live session on Sunday. Please search the area and otherwise prepare to go through the doors at the bottom of the steps. You also all need to level up! I've received a level 4 version of Corydimbiddle from Josh only so far. Since we don't know every PC's max hp at this point, before the level up and various class/character changes I suggest you just send me your new character pdfs/charbuilder files as soon as possible and we'll do the healing at the beginning of Sunday's encounter.

As soon as Edeya picks up the rod, she falls down. Azad, Corydimbiddle, Demuriath, and Harkin rush to her side and notice that she is out cold, yet alive. A few seconds later, her body begins to convulse and flinch and then rests calmly. Before you have a chance to decide what to do about it, Edeya's eyes flutter open, her body drenched in sweat. As she rolls over, you notice that a special looking bow is clutched in her hands, Kalarel's rod nowhere in sight.

  •  For Edeya
    • As you reach out and grasp the rod a flash appears before your eyes and you feel as though being pulled away through time and space to an age long forgotten. The brightness clears and you find yourself standing atop a precipice of a mountain, in full battle gear, a bow in your hand.
    • You are commanding legions of Eladrin and fey beasts as they march upon your enemies. Into the shadowfell they go, and you suddenly feel a slip of your power as one by one your army falls to the claws of the undead. You feel each death as a hit on your body and suddenly begin to bleed from the mouth, choking on your own fluids and finally fall down, the bow slipping from your grasp and tumbling into the chasm.
    • You awake lying in a pool of sweat back on the floor of the shadow rift chamber, a bow in your hand. You hear a whisper of a promise of power if only you will keep the bow safe. The final words you hear in your mind before being able to get up are “…seek Karavakos”.

Soft laughter of a woman's voice echoes throughout the rift chamber. "Heh, heh, Heh." Looking around, you notice the dark woman named Lightshade standing in the blood underneath the chains you climbed down. "This was quite entertaining to watch. I was sure Kalerel would kill at least one of you before his reckoning. Seems you're a lot tougher than you look. In any case, it's been fun. Until we meet again." she says.

Demuriath jumps to his feet and hurls some shadows towards Lightshade, but the woman merely disappears in front of your eyes. You hear the chains rattle as she climbs deftly back up. Your first impulse is to try and follow, but then realize it may be better to recover and search the area.

Although you still feel uneasy in this rift chamber, you decide to find a dry patch of ground and rest from you battle. Some of you search the area for valuables and find a few items of interest. Reflecting back on the last several days events, you can't help but wonder whether this was only one battle won in a war that is yet to come.

Edeya suggests visiting Sir Keegan again before departing the keep to let him know about his children's belongings that you found earlier.

OOC: Congratulations on beating Kalarel and thus completing the first adventure in Points of Light. The party gains 4329 XP for the last two battles and for successfully defeating Kalarel and stabilizing the Shadow Rift.

Experience Point Group Total: 23329 (12/28/10) - need 27500 to reach level 5

Edeya receives a bow+2 of her choice.
Corydimbiddle receives a non-weapon magic item up to level 9 item.
Harkin receives a non-armor magic item up to level 8.

The party also finds gold and gems with 1500 value. Party total gold found so far is 2103 and you will also be getting a reward from Lord Padraig after returning to Winterhaven. For now, let me know what magical items you are choosing or if you want me to choose for you.

The story can continue with the party going to Sir Keegan next to talk to him or if you choose to immediately return to Winterhaven. Just let me know which.
