That's not "errata" on Righteous Brand, that's a flat out nerf after its been out for wo months. That sucks.

Yeah, it's pretty sad they did that to Righteous Brand. Your genasi swordmage/cleric hybrid is still good although not great now. If you think about it though, that at-will for would have granted +5 to attack at level 8. Not as bad as what they did to Winged Horde IMO. They really should have another at-will area burst 1 for wizards that does some damage (chill wind doesn't count!).

Yes, the errata is not members exclusive, but it IS on dndinsider. That's why I posted the link for those who care to look. I guess you mean it's technically on the wizards website though. I will be more careful with my wording in the future. ;)

I wonder when War of Attrition is similarly nerfed. Or do you think it has enough restrictions (encounter, basics and at-wills only)?

As an encounter, WoA is probaly safe. RB could lead to huge bonuses, but it's not like that wasn't apparent when PHB1 was first sent to the printer...

I think Chaos bolt will be culled before War of Attrition. I recall there was a ranger daily in PHB1 (something Blades) that would allow endless repeat attacks as long as each on hit. They changed it to make it maximum 5 attacks. That's for a daily. Chaos Bolt is potentially endless (or at least max the number of enemies on the field) as an at-will!

Hide Armor Expertise is now a flat +2 to defense in Hide in place of your Dex/Int. This is significantly less useful now, as it used to be +Con mod. This affects barbarians, swarm druids, and Con shamans. Dang.

Winged Horde, though not as good as first printed, is still useful, and better than that DDXP character sheet had.

No +Int to damage, but the vs Will / psychic / enemies only / no OA properties are still very nice. I'd still take it over Scorching Burst.

Doh! There was a charbuilder update!? The only reason I didn't take winged horde and took scorching burst for Alfred in retraining is that the initial errata stated it would be a target single enemy attack. would totally take it instead of scorching burst. Targets will! Can be enlarged! Maybe Mike will let me switch it considering we were misinformed and we're only in our first battle at the new level.

I just did my update. Here's a list of the new source material. It includes MP2!

With the newest update, there's now a power card in your charbuilder character sheet that lists all of your skill values. Convenient.

Gary, my "winged horde" in charbuilder seems buggy. It doesn't show anything below "Attack: each enemy in burst". I guess the compendium has it right though.

Nerf CB? Why? :) I was actually reading where some people were saying that it should continue forever with evens even if you only have allies left. Some people responded that you could attack an empty space then or that it wasn't the intent to target allies, but that would certainly make it more chaotic. It would potentially be worse with the powers or items (usually encounters) that allow you to treat one roll as an odd or even as you wish instead of what it is. Laz isn't taking those, but it does begin to make that power unstoppable (especially targeting Will).

I saw that too. I got that screen grab for WH from the Compendium.

I was just looking at the CB for options for Mal. The At-Will Intuitive Strike looks impressive: vs. Will, 1W damage (no Str mod, so it will be 2d4+3 damage at the moment) and until start of next turn, any ally who attacks the target with combat advantage gains a bonus to the attack of 1 + Wis or Cha mod instead of the normal +2 (in my case, it would be +5).

This would work GREAT with Inspired Belligerence (grants CA and +4 damage to allies against the target), making it +5 to hit, +4 to damage against one target for a turn (both are until the start of my next turn, so Ready Actions would be useful). The combo is almost like a single target War of Attrition.

The May rules update has several interesting changes (some good, some bad). I've listed some that are interesting and ones that affect several current players.

The tiefling Infernal Wrath power has slightly changed, although I'm not sure how. It may have already been changed previously.

The cleric Healer's Lore class feature has been nerfed so that the bonus HP are only granted if the cleric lets the target spend a healing surge and not just any power that gives surgeless healing (e.g. astral seal).

Certain skills has been modified. Athletics/acrobatics rolls can now be made during any action that allows movement, not just move actions. There's a Hop Down option for untrained acrobatics.

There are a bunch of minor changes/clarifications to various status conditions and forced movement in 3D.

Very relevant is that the Aid Another rules have changed. It's not just a simple DC10 roll anymore, but rather at DC10+half your level. Also, a failed aid another roll confers a -1 to the aided ally. Lastly, a total of four successes or failures are now permitted for a potential +8 or -4 total.

Aid Attack and Aid Defense has also been modified to allow greater help (good for bottleneck situations or heroic attitudes).

Charge rules slightly modified in how distance to enemy is calculated (includes blocking terrain) and that each movement must be closer to the target. Also, any free action is now permitted at the end of a charge.

A bunch of powers/feats have been slightly changed and here are just a few of note:

Enlarge Spell only works on at-wills and encounter powers, not dailies.

War of Attrition has been clarified to make sure the inspiring presence bonus is for attack and damage.

Spirit of healing cleric daily does less healing. Defensive healing word lasts only until end of cleric's next turn. Healer's implement only grants extra hp when a healing surge is granted.

Warlord's at-will Intuitive Strike has been nerfed so that it always only grants a +2 bonus to attack.

Ardent's level 1 daily Wormhole Plunge has been nerfed so that the teleporting can only be used once per round instead of once per creature.



So, based on these changes, some of us might retrain certain powers/feats, run our skill challenges differently, and use skills during combat moves more. Of the info I listed, three of my PC's are actually affected and one of Josh's.

Just read the new Infernal Wrath. COMPLETELY changes the power. It was a minor action +1 to hit/+Cha mod to damage against an enemy that hit you since last turn. Now it is essentially an Immediate Reaction (although, free so that it doesn't interfere with other immediates) when an enemy within 10 squares hits you, you can hit them with 1d6+Int mod or Cha mod fire damage.

War of Attrition got destroyed, as well. Instead of +Cha mod to attack/+Cha mod to damage rolls on basics and at-wills, it is now +1 to attack/+Cha mod to damage rolls.

Intuitive Strike's nerf isn't that bad at the moment for me (only reduces the attack bonus by 1).

Wormhole Plunge's change doesn't seem to make sense. It already had the caveat of "until the end of your next turn" with no "sustain minor" ability. This now means you can only teleport 2 people 3 squares each and do roughly 2W damage (your attack and the basic attack you grant) and you pull people in a small area at the beginning of their turns 1 square. Seems like they just made an interesting but very semi-situational daily into something less interesting.

Enlarge spell is now also limited to wizard at-will and encounter powers. Looks like Sentinel's build is a no go from here on out...

Big ouch for the healer's lore nerf. Wasn't that Emily's build in KM?

As I saw, that was the only thing to really impact FR, unless someone else noticed something. So Ari, consider Astral Seal nerfed after this battle.

Yeah. If they wanted to deal with surge-less healing, astral seal could have taken a tweak. It looks like they took a 16 lb. sledge to healing based clerics.

How many surgeless healing based cleric powers are there besides astral seal, though? I wouldn't think it'd be that many.
