Here's my new level 6 standard stat block.

For my Utility 6, I took Wrath of the Gods, which is the same daily party damage boost Murrak has. For my feat, I took Power of the Moon, which gives me +1 Perception and adds -2 AC UENT Azad when I hit with Enfeebling Strike. -2 Attack AND -2 AC when hitting with an at-will is awesome.

A couple wrinkles... I seem to have lost Hold Fast. Might have been a correction in how hybrid psionic characters are implemented. Oh well, I'll live. Also, the CB isn't applying my Vigilant Blade longsword to Frost of Letherna for some reason.

The PDF linked below is also updated.

  •  Azad Halim al'Zahir
    • Female Tiefling Battlemind|Paladin 6
    • Full Character Sheet
    • Passive Perception: 14, Passive Insight: 15, Senses: Low-Light Vision

    • Power Points: 2/2

    • Bloodhunt (Race): +1 to hit against bloodied creatures.
    • Imperious Majesty (Feat): You can use Charisma instead of Dexterity to determine your initiative modifier. When you hit a creature that has not yet acted in an encounter with an attack, it takes a penalty to attack rolls against you equal to your Charisma modifier until the end of your next turn.
    • Power of the Moon (Feat): +1 feat bonus to Perception, -2 AC until the end of Azad's next turn to the target when Azad hits with Enfeebling Strike.

    • Powers
    • -Battlemind's Demand 0 / 1

    • -Vigilant Blade Longsword +1 - Power (Encounter): Immediate Reaction. Trigger: You use this power when an ally adjacent to you is attacked by an enemy adjacent to you. Effect: You switch places with the ally, and the target grants combat advantage to you until the end of your next turn.
    • -Heartening Drakescale Armor +2 - Gain a saving throw bonus against fear effects equal to the armorís enhancement bonus. When you use your second wind, you gain temporary hit points equal to three times the armorís enhancement bonus.
    • -Amulet of Life +1 - Power (Encounter, Healing): Free Action. Trigger: Use this power when you spend a healing surge. Effect: You can spend an additional healing surge.
    • -Iron Armbands of Power (Heroic) - +2 item bonus to melee damage rolls.

So far I've got level up info from Jonathan, Emily, and Gary in one form or another. Nathan mentioned he's gone all weekend. We'll likely continue fully sometime next week after everyone's done leveling and the party has healed/decided what do in the battle aftermath.

My thoughts are that it is probably like my other summonings: minor to move, my defenses, half my HP, lose a surge when it dies. I will probably have it out all the time.

Thanks for email me the update Josh. I like the pic you chose for the familiar. I can't recall all the rules just now, but believe familiars are like minions with hp, but have your defenses. It is immune to your spells. Not sure what happens when it dies, but it comes back after some period (short or extended rest). The rules for arcane familiar are in the Arcane Power book if that helps.

Our wifi at the hotel never worked properly....

I was planning on taking dual implement spellcaster for added damage, only to figure out that I need 2 higher dex than I have. Instead, I took a "boring" +1 to hit when using an accurate implement. That'll boost the damage output in a less obvious manner. I'm assuming Viktor won't let me take Mark of Storm, because if I can....

The Level 6 utility is kind of odd, but the best encounter power I saw. I'm still wrestling with the action economy though an adventuring day. When Hadad is the target of a blast or burst, immediate int. for everyone to get +2 to their defense against the attack. It's easily skinnable for Hadad's theme. Dragon's fire gets muted by his will/quick ice conjuration. A poison cloud is dispersed by a breeze. For the spellbook, I took the daily Fire Shield: resist 10 cold and fire and anyone attacking Hadad suffers some fire damage.

I was limited to scatter shot (lvl5) and a lvl 9 daily power to put into the new +2 book Hadad is carrying about. Limited options, but I don't know that I want to retrain a power at this point to free up utility. I'm really happy with the scattershot instant-use option. So far, I've never used my level 5 daily as it's THE get out of jail free card Hadad's packing.

Edit: There are some summons that look interesting, but skinning them feels a bit wonky as all the good ones are fire based.

Nathan, I sent you an email to confirm if I caught all your level up changes correctly. As regards Mark of Storm feat, I don't see a reason why you can't take it. I think nobody has a mark feat yet in any of the games on this board, so maybe there's a reason for that. I believe it's an eberron thing, but that doesn't bother me unless it bothers someone else.

The only objection I would have with PC development is that nobody should choose unique magic items that are tied into the official campaign because some of them have plot elements. Those are usually indicated with the source in online CB being something like "H1: Keep on the Shadowfell (e.g. Aecris weapon) or one of the other H's, P's, and E's.

I didn't realize the Dragonmarks were available. That's cool. I believe there's a really good mark for defenders that boosts the defender's mark to -3 to hit. Something to keep in mind at level 8. I'm good with my current feat selection, though, so I'll worry about it then.

Here is what I get from that article (thanks, btw, Viktor): A familiar is a tiny minion (1 HP, no damage if missed) that cannot flank. It has my defenses (I assume it doesn't get the +2 bonus from the feat I have). It has two modes: passive and active. Switching between them is a minor action. Passive mode means it is in my square and cannot be targeted or take damage (I get the +2 Athletics and +2 Warding rituals with the canine). Active mode means that it can move its speed (7 sq) with one of my move actions and grants me its active benefit (resist 1 melee/ranged while adjacent). It can also use skills and take actions but it uses mine. If it is more than 20 sq away, it reverts to passive mode in your square. Finally, if it "dies" it comes back after a short or extended rest.

As far as dragonmarks go, they are generally really powerful. Eberron has a story-based mechanism for dealing with this (anyone with unauthorized dragonmarks becomes hunted, more or less).

Awesome! Welcome aboard, Daniel!

If it helps, here's a rundown of the current PC's.

Defender - Azad, Tiefling Battlemind|Paladin (Gary)
Leader - Corydimbiddle, Gnome Artificer (Josh)
Striker - Demuriath, Revenant Assassin (Jonathan)
Controller - Edeya, Githzerai Seeker (Emily)
Controller - Hadad, Genasi Wizard (Nathan)

All the roles are covered, so just about anything should fit. Melee might be nice, because Azad and Demuriath are the only melee types, and the other three are ranged characters.

Ok. I've rolled up a human scout so far. Victor said he gauges items by gold piece value, not by level, any idea where I can get that number off-hand? Also, stats are point buy or array?

Point buy. Magic item GP values are tied to level. All level 1 items are 360 GP, for example. The GP value is usually included in the item listings.

How do you guys handle thrown magic weapons? Weapon returns to my hand at SMNT no matter where I go or weapon returns to my hand only if I'm in the square it was thrown from and if I'm not in that square anymore, it reappears on the floor in that square?

We play it that thrown magic weapons return to your hand instantly after you make the attack. So you could even make double thrown weapon attacks, or more, in one turn.

Two-weapon rangers are very fun to play. Lots of attacks, lots of damage, and lots of mobility. You can focus on multi-targeting, nova single targeting, ultra mobility or a balance of the three. Twin strike is your staple at-will power until later levels provide you with enough encounter powers that have added versatility. Your second at-will of choice will depend on your play style (e.g. I chose the running attack class feature for my dwarf ranger and therefore marauder's rush at-will, my focus is on double attacks on one or two targets with increased mobility).

Here's a table of the gold cost per first eleven item levels to help. To balance you out with what the other players already have, I'll say you can have magic items totaling 9000 gold in value. I looked at your link and that's comparable with some of the columns.

You can have as many or as few magic items from that gold amount. For example, you could have just one +3 Earth-Wrought hammer (level 11, 9000 gold) or you could have a weapon, armor, neck item, etc. It's up to you, but generally it's better to have several items over one mega item. If you have leftover gold after picking all your items that's fine; we'll just add it to the party pool. Over time, everyone's item levels balances out so the players who have a higher total item value in one level might not get as high wishlist items in the next level.

Which reminds me to let the rest of you know who's up for an item next. For new items gained during adventuring, it's also possible to choose multiple items that total the new one's gold value.

Demuriath: level 11 item
Azad: level 10 item
Edeya: level 9 item
Corydimbiddle: level 8 item

Item Level Guide
1 360
2 520
3 680
4 840
5 1000
6 1800
7 2600
8 3400
9 4200
10 5000
11 9000
