OOC: thanks! that sounds like a plan. I will move to H8 and then charge to K8. I can only use a standard attack when I charge though right? If that is not the case then I want to use my encounter power thunder ram assault and I will re roll everything.

Jauthak leaps over the sarcophagus and charges into the gnoll headhunter and wildly flourishes his flaming greatsword as he takes a mighty hack at the gnoll headhunter.

Jauthak charges in and hits the gnoll with his sword, cutting him deeply (11 damage to Red, bloodied). Then, Thranduin aims carefully at the huntmaster and pierces its hide with another insect arrow, leaving the gnoll on death's door (12 damage, -2 to attack until start of Thranduin's turn).

OOC: Josh, you again hit despite what I think is the wrong attack bonus. Where did you get +19? I can only see +13 in this case. Please spell it out in the mechanics text or in the roll where your attack bonus comes from next time.

OOC: Well I usually get a plus 15, I thought that charging gives you a plus 2 to attack, and I also thought that the gnoll headmaster was flanked (which would have given me another plus 2). But I definitely could have been wrong. I will be sure to spell it out clearly next time. thanks again for being patient with me!

OOC: I have you at usually +12 (+5 Str modifier, +2 for being level 4, +3 for greatsword proficiency, +1 for expertise, +1 for flaming greatsword). Charge grants a +1 to attack. And in order to get combat advantage from flanking, you have to actually be the one flanking, which you aren't, and, in fact, there is no flanking going on (characters have to be on the opposite side of the creature and the Spirit Companion cannot participate in flanking). And again, it is no problem. Spelling out the bonuses each time, also can help you learn the rules of when you get the bonuses.

OOC: Thaelan is tapped out for healing. If people sit around the SC like a camp fire, you get a bonus +4HP when using second wind. If we want to sit for two short rests, I can distribute some more serious healing. If people are generally looking ok on the number of surges they have left, we can just burn surges and move on. Otherwise, we'll apply the bonus healing to whomever is short on surges.

Josh, Thaelan is going to have a look at the thrones (from a distance).

OOC: Nathan is going out of town tomorrow, so I want him to at least see the encounter map before he goes. We should be able to continue and hopefully finish by early January.

In front of you looms a muscular gnoll wearing a skull helmet and waving a heavy flail. Behind the creature is a well or pit of some kind with a foot-high stone lip around it. Two gnoll archers stand beyond the well. A thin trickle of water emerges from a doorway on your left, pooling in a shallow puddle around the lip of the well.

You hear a faint slithering sound from the depths of the well. Immediately upon walking in, Alysandra is hit with an arrow, as the gnoll that shot it moves behind the well (10 damage to Alysandra).

Illumination: Torches in wall sconces provide bright illumination throughout the chamber, but it’s dark inside the well.
Ceiling: The ceiling in this area is 10 feet high.
Well: Creatures pushed, pulled, or slid into the well make a saving throw (with a +2 bonus because of the lip on the opening) to avoid falling.
Pool: The greenish squares around the well represent the area where water from the broken fountain has collected in a shallow pool. The water in the pool is dark, stale, musty, and about a foot deep. These squares are difficult terrain, and slippery: A creature that enters one must make a successful DC 10 Acrobatics check or fall prone in that square, ending its movement.
Broken Fountain: Once, some statuary with a water nozzle extended from the far eastern wall, but all that’s left are a few broken prongs of stone and a short length of bent metal pipe.

Jauthak steps forward and knocks the scourge down (13 damage to Purple, prone until end of Jauthak's next turn).

The scourge then barks something to the huntmasters and they focus their attacks on the goliath. The first huntmaster nearly hits his leader, while the other is able to peg the warden with the help of the scourge's directions (10 damage to Jauthak). The scourge then attacks Jauthak from the floor and manages to hit him with his heavy flail, knocking the warden to the floor as well (12 damage to Jauthak, knocked prone).

OOC: Again, Josh, please spell out where your +15 attack bonus comes from, I only have it as +12. It did not matter this time, but it may next turn.
