OOC: I am going to move to square D8 and flank the green gnoll

Jauthak moves to flank the green gnoll and unleashes a mighty attack with his flaming great sword using his Earthstrike grasp

OOC: earthstrike grasp is 1[W] + strength modifier (+5) damage, and you knock the target prone. The first time the target stands up before the end of your next turn it takes 1D10 + my strength modifier (+5) damage. Invisible castle is down right now so can you roll for me Josh? Thanks!

The goliath takes a huge swing with his greatsword and cuts the gnoll deep as he knocks him down (19+14=33 to AC, 10+6=16 damage to Green; Green is knocked prone until the end of Jauthak's next turn and takes 1d10+5 damage when he next stands up).

Thranduin steps away from the prone gnoll just long enough to let an arrow fly into his side and distract him before stepping back in and trapping the foe between himself and the goliath.

"You are the prey now, dog," the elf says grimly.

Thranduin steps away from from the gnoll for a moment, to get a clear shot. The arrow hits the gnoll and goes in deep, hindering the marauder's attacks. The seeker then moves back into the fray to keep the gnoll penned in (16 damage to Green; -2 to attack until start of Thranduin's next turn).

Alysandra nudges the shaman next to her. "Thaelan. While the rest of you are finishing off that marauder, I intend to go around this large sarcophagus and charge that huntmaster. I leave it up to you to decide whom it would be best to for you and your...butterfly to attack."

OOC: Alysandra can move to F2 and then charge to K7, attacking the huntmaster on her turn. Does anyone think I should instead help kill the marauder? I'm hoping there aren't any additional allies or traps around. Maybe Gary could have Thranduin use perception to scan for traps in the main section of this room.

OOC: My passive perception isn't too bad either, but the large sarcophagus probably blocks my view.

Whispering back to the paladin, "Well, lets see if I can split the difference, shall we? Do not fear, you won't be facing that beast alone."

Clearing his mind, Thaelan prepares to direct his spirit companion through a dizzying swirl of activity. The butterfly slides next to Korg before lashing out with its wings at the wounded gnoll. Next, it becomes a swirly insubstantial mist that rockets across the field of battle, finally stopping and reforming next to the huntmaster.

Mechanics:
Move: Move SC to E7
Standard: Attack green gnoll with protecting strike. On a hit, Thranduin and Jauthak gain 4 temp HP.
Minor/free: Dismiss SC and resummon at k9


Protecting strike against green gnoll will. (1d20+12=18, 1d8+5=8)

Thaelan's butterfly flutters over a bit and then beats its wings hard at the fallen gnoll, hurting it further and bolstering the seeker and warden (8 damage to Green, Jauthak and Thranduin gain 4 temp HP). Then, the butterfly disappears and suddenly reappears next to the door and the huntmaster.

The marauder, extremely angry at this point and unable to stand, follows the huntmaster and stabs at the seeker, just managing to poke the elf with his spear (14 damage to Thranduin).

OOC: Josh, I don't know where you got +17 to hit. I have you at +12 base (+5 Strength mod, +2 for level, +3 Greatsword Prof, +1 Expertise, +1 flaming sword) and +2 for CA against the gnoll (from prone and flanking, but only one CA counts). You still hit, I am just trying to find out where the other +3 is from. Maybe in the future, you can break down the bonuses you use, like 1d20+12+2 or something.

JOSH - Please use at-will attacks instead of basic attacks. Your at-wills have the same hit and damage numbers as your basic attack, but also have some sort of nice effect with them. And you can't ever run out of them, so there's no reason not to use them.

Thranduin steps back a moment, fires an arrow that even taking an extra moment before firing cannot hit the prone gnoll. The seeker takes another shot, and this time nails the gnoll in the back with his insect arrow (12 damage, -2 to attack to Green).

Between shots, Thranduin quickly scans the rest of the room and sees nothing out of the ordinary, except that the throne seems a little out of place with the sarcophagi.

Trusting that Thranduin would have said something if he detected a trap or hidden foe, Alysandra moves up and on top of the small sarcaphogus. She looks around and can now clearly see the huntmaster for the first time and the room at large. She notes nothing treacherous however. "You have done enough harm with your cowardly attacks from afar. Face me in combat now!" she challenges. Then she charges.

1d20+7+1=23 Perception roll to look for traps or hidden enemies.

1d20+12+1+1=23, 1d8+6=8, 1d8=7 Charge huntmaster with vanguard sword, using virtuous strike as melee attack (base 12, +1 24h, +1 charge, +1d8 extra damage on a charge hit with vanguard sword)

OOC: Alysandra moves to F2, uses perception to look around, uses a minor action to mark with divine challenge the huntmaster (-3 to attack others and 8 radiant damage if it does), then charges to K7. Charge hits 23 vs AC for 15 radiant damage.

Alysandra decides to see what is happening in the rest of the room and jumps on the northern sarcophagus. She doesn't see any obvious traps, but also notices the throne looks a little odd. The paladin then charges the huntmaster, hitting him hard and challenging him to battle (15 damage, DC Huntmaster).

Korg tries to give himself an advantage where he already had one, and misses the prone marauder. Then, the huntmaster drops his bow and pulls out a handaxe, which misses the paladin badly.

Thaelan scans the battle field, and debates between trying to finish the surrounded gnoll and providing the paladin some protection. Deciding quickly, he tries to put the green gnoll out of the fight before it can aim another spear strike at his companions.

mechanics:
minor/free: dismiss SC and resummon at G8
standard: Protecting strike upon green gnoll attacking will. On a hit, Thranduin gains 4 temp HP.
move: Move SC to K9. If green gnoll is dead, Thaelan will walk to G6 as well. Otherwise Thaelan shifts to D6.

"Alysandra, looks like you have things under wraps against dog-breath over there! I doubt he could hit a tree with that toy of his!"

Protecting Strike against green gnoll. +1 24hr bonus, +2 CA (1d20+12=21, 1d8+5=6)

Edit:
Josh gave me a mechanics rule clarification, plus I mis-wrote my damage as +5 and not +6. Here is my response.
move Move SC to L7, move Thaelan to G6
ACTION POINT: Haunting Spirits upon red gnoll attacking will. Upon a hit, Korg gets CA until the end of my next turn. I believe that will let him move then charge.

Thaelan's butterfly pal disappears and reappears next to the nearly dead marauder. With a stab of its tongue, the butterfly is able to put the gnoll out of its misery and bolster Thranduin a bit (7 damage to Green, Green is dead, +4 temp HP to Thranduin). Thaelan takes advantage of the opening and moves forward, commanding the butterfly next to the huntmaster. Thaelan then calls upon the frightening platypus. The gnoll sees it appear from Korg's position and flinches away from the half-orc (9 damage to Red, CA for Korg against huntmaster).

OOC: Josh I don't appear to be able to get to the target to hit it with a melee attack. Is it possible for me to charge at the gnoll headmaster to hit it or do I just have to move closer and end my turn?

OOC: You can move first with your move action and then charge with your standard action. Just don't move closer than three spaces from the enemy or you can't charge anymore. For example, move to H8, then charge to K8.
