Delve 4 will probably start in 1-2 weeks, so here is everyone's planning thread. Characters will be level 4 and have 3443 GP to buy stuff (assuming I did the calculations correct). I am willing to take on as many as are willing to play.

Hi everyone. I'll properly introduce myself somewhere else, but I'm a friend of Josh's. He invited me to join this delve, and I'm looking forward to it. I was thinking of playing a warlock, to see if I could show Gary what they're capable of, or perhaps a leader (Shaman?) if we need another of those. In before Gary :P

I think I will have to sit this one out, as I will be out of the country for a few weeks. Have fun, all!

Well, I'm always happy to play as you know. I can offer a storm sorcerer, shielding cleric, virtuous paladin or create a new character. New character ideas would be summoning or swarm druid, warden, or controlling wizard.

Ishara's sitting this one out while I get my game together. She's been the busiest anyway, and needs a break =)

Korg the half orc rogue will make a triumphant return for delve 4. Still want to flesh him out a bit...

Hey, Nathan! Good to see ya.

I am, of course, in for Delve #4. No idea what I'm going to play, yet. I'm enjoying my swordmage, but always love the chance to try something new.

Okay, so with Ishara sitting out, I'm thinking to take the chance to try one of the newfangled PHB3 controllers.

Elf Bloodbond Seeker

Tiefling Telepathic Psion

Both look like a LOT of fun. Decisions, decisions...

I was looking at how awesome the elf seeker is for avoiding missing and/or at least doing something each round...

Encounter Powers:
- Elven Accuracy for an attack re-roll.
- Inevitable Shot for a free ranged basic attack if I miss. This also recharges when I use an action point!
- Rebounding Greatbow for a free ranged basic attack if I miss.

...and I just realized that the fact that Stinging Swarm can be used as a RBA means it can be used in conjunction with Inevitable Shot or the Rebounding Greatbow.

Plus, I've got Bracers of the Perfect Shot, adding +2 damage to RBA's. :D

Okay, I'm going with the elven seeker. It's settled. Missing will be almost as fun as hitting. ;)

Interesting class. It looks like you make your target really foul to his allies (really bad B.O. or something). And you get a bank shot 5 times every two encounters . :P

I was wondering, though, why you have +3 (16=>19) to Dex and Wisdom instead of the normal +2.

At level 4 you bump two stats up by 1 each, remember? I started Thranduin with 18's in Dex/Wis, and used the level 4 bumps on them.

Gary - Elf Seeker

with Mike and Jonathon sitting out for sure.

Anyone else?

Since there are two strikers and a leader already, I will play a defender (either a paladin or a warden).

Question, how do I get paragraphs to work with HTML code enabled? Do I need to go with <br> for blank lines?

Yeah, given that we don't have anyone screaming to play a leader yet, I think I'll go with the shaman. Currently, I have:

====== Created Using Wizards of the Coast D&D Character Builder ======
insert cool name here, level 4
Dwarf, Shaman
Companion Spirit: Protector Spirit
Background: Geography - Forest (+2 to Perception)

FINAL ABILITY SCORES
Str 11, Con 18, Dex 12, Int 10, Wis 20, Cha 8.

STARTING ABILITY SCORES
Str 11, Con 15, Dex 12, Int 10, Wis 17, Cha 8.

AC: 16 Fort: 18 Reflex: 14 Will: 19
HP: 45 Surges: 11 Surge Value: 11

TRAINED SKILLS
Nature +12, Heal +12, Insight +12, Perception +14

UNTRAINED SKILLS
Acrobatics +3, Arcana +2, Bluff +1, Diplomacy +1, Dungeoneering +9, Endurance +8, History +2, Intimidate +1, Religion +2, Stealth +3, Streetwise +1, Thievery +3, Athletics +2

FEATS
Level 1: Mark of Healing
Level 2: Focused Expertise (Spear)
Level 4: Protector Spirit Adept

POWERS
Shaman at-will 1: Watcher's Strike
Shaman encounter 1: Twin Panthers
Shaman daily 1: Spirit of the Healing Flood
Shaman utility 2: Bonds of the Clan
Shaman encounter 3: Spring Renewal Strike

ITEMS
Cloak of Distortion +1, Totemic Spear Spear +1, Bear Spirit Leather Armor +1, Adventurer's Kit

I'm highly tempted to swap watcher's strike, which gives an untyped +1 bonus to attack rolls and +5 bonus to perception rolls to people standing next to the spirit companion for haunting spirits, which is a ranged 5 attack that grants combat advantage to an ally of my choice upon a hit. As the only healer, I have stacked the healing abilities pretty hard. If someone else comes along, I might exchange one of the healing abilities [Spirit of the Healing Flood] for something a bit more offensive [Wrath of the Spirit World].

I currently have 1,228 gp to spend. I could get the level 5 totem "Pure Spirit Totem +1" which has the daily ability to heal an ally withing 5 squares for 1D6 as a minor. With my feats, this would include a free saving throw and a possible +4 additional hp with the spirit companion boon. That would leave a little gold for items such as a potion of clarity, a healing potion, alchemist acid, a horse, etc. This seems like a partial waste, as my totemic spear also grants +1 to attack/damage rolls. If anyone has a better suggestion, I'm open to it.

The seeker is a controller. That said, that still makes you playing a defender a good idea.

Nathan, to do paragraph breaks with the HTML on, use (br) with < and > instead of ( and ).

Your shaman looks cool. I briefly tried a dwarf shaman and he was fun while the game lasted. :) Cleansing Wind of the North is an awesome level 1 daily. Don't have time right now to look up the rest of what you've got laid out.

Welllll, don't you mean to say while the round lasted. As I recall, that game consisted of one battle, and Crag was down in round one after wiping out 90% of our enemies with "Cleansing Wind of the North". A very noble sacrifice.

Speaking of which, I may play the virtuous paladin from that battle, with some adjustments. Otherwise a warden. Since Primal Power is being released tomorrow and I have it on pre-order, I'll check out the new warden options and type them up here if I go with that.

Yes, I have fond memories of it as well. In the single 4e game I've been able to play, it probably regenerated over 30 hit points in a single encounter. Edit: I'm dumb. I have fond memories of Spirit of the Healing Flood.

Nathan - Dwarf Shaman
Viktor - Paladin or Warden
Marek - Half-orc Rogue
Gary - Elf Seeker

with Emily, Mike and Jonathon sitting out for sure.

I glanced at the member list and I think that takes care of all of our regulars. Assuming no one else joins, any advice on how to tone down the encounters? Or should I bother since it is a Delve and there are only three encounters in a day anyways?

I wouldn't bother toning things down. PbP allows for more tactical planning and precision, which increases party effectiveness. Plus, as you say, it's a delve. We know what's coming, and if a PC dies, meh. Another chance to try something new! :)

I agree with Gary, don't tone down. At least don't tone down with the enemy powers, even if you decide to remove one or two enemies per encounter. Besides, even if a PC dies, the priests in Loudwater know the raise dead ritual and since these are delves, nobody really cares about logical continuity anyway.

I'm still undecided about paladin vs. warden. Had a look through primal power last night and the new builds (life warden, storm warden) look pretty cool. I would probably go with either Earthstrengh warden or Storm warden.
