The shifter nods cautiously, "Yes perhaps, we might be able to come to an agreement. Today is an auspicious day for accommodation and settlement."

"Yessss" Daggoth hisses dramatically, embracing his serpentine nature.

"It would be in everyone's best interest to talk this out like... civilized folk."

Despite the rational words, Daggoths tone and demeanor made it clear that it would be in the shifter's best interest not to do anything rash unless they were craving a face-full of axe.

Salazar tries to recall what he knows of shifter culture, and why they might find today an auspicious day for a settlement.

Salazar remembers a tale about the dessert full moon being held aloft by all his children - the stars. The moral of the story is something along the lines of a great leader is nothing without the support of his tribe. Harmony and support of the chief is paramount during the full moon, and tonight there just happens to be one. He realizes that although shifters have a strict honor code, they also can be very superstitious. They might easily swayed by omens and portents.

"We respect your ways, and we respect your laws - unfortunately, life isn't always as clear-cut as we'd all like. But I'm sure we can make a mutually beneficial arrangement - at least, share an ale."

"Chief, the full moon portends, as you know, that what happens this evening will decide the harmony your tribe will experience in the coming month," Salazar says. "Surely, a night of harmony is no time for a battle. And the full moon also influences your support among your tribe, I believe. Consider what your tribe might think if you were the only one to return from this evening's excursion."

The shifter looks hard at Salazar and then nods in agreement. "Very well. The full moon will be our guide. Tonight we will part in peace, but beware crossing paths with the Razorclaws on any other night. We will not be as forgiving."

The group gains 1500 experience.

As the shifters exit, Sertanian lets out a long held breath. "Praise Erathis! I shudder to think of the damage a fight would have caused. Please, let us all retire. I don't think this old heart can take any more excitement tonight. Oh and take this verbose sword with you."

You leave the Great Hall of Valor with the sword and decide to spend the night at the Antler and Thistle. The innkeeper shoots you a nasty look as you enter. "Fancy pants Liberators of Brindol or who ever you call yourselves these days, don't you be bringing anymore trouble to my establishment!" Luckily for you and for him, no one else decides to pick any fights with the Liberators this night.

The next day you try to figure out where to go from here.

Salazar recalls what an excellent student of history Councilman Troyas is. Visiting their old friend, Salazar asks for and quickly is granted access to the Councilman's fine library, where the mage turns up a very good clue as to Graystone's whereabouts in a well-worn volume entitled Famous Fortresses and Where to Find Them - Vol. III, Everwhisper through Havisham.

History (24H) (1d20+13+1=34) - CRIT! :)

OOC: Ravenblade has poor social/knowledge skills, so I'll wait till we're on the road to roll something relevant like Nature or Perception for him.
