Hedoni's spell seems to veer off course and instead of relocating the demon, the wizard's magic pushes one of the bookshelves. The ancient books topple over, landing in the zone of fire.

The Beholder first takes 11 fire damage from Salazar's combined spells.1d10+3=6 Then it's eyes focus on Ragnum. The cleric feels his limbs and blood grow cold as he takes 19 damage and becomes weakened and immobilized, save ends both. Finally, the beholder is able to shake off some the lingering damage from Salazar's fire spell.

Daggoth feels the chill of the beholder's stare for 16 damage as he starts his turn.

First, he swings at the destroyer, but barely nicks it.

Ravenblade's eyes widen in shock as Daggoth taunts all remaining enemies. "Scales. I really hope you know what you're doing." he whispers to Daggoth in a strained voice.

OOC: Very nice move! It should even pull the behold down to ground level for anyone to hit it.

OOC: Also, Daggoth should get +3 to damage against A. So the first attack is actually 10 damage.

Daggoth takes 10 fire damage from the leaking firecore aura. Then his first attack cracks the demon's ice shell a bit more, but the creature is still intact enough to keep fighting. Next, the dragonborn summons some more strength. With a shout of wrath, Daggoth forces his enemies closer. The burst finishes off the beholder, its eyes frantically looking around, twisting with pain and rage. The multi-eye creature crashes to the ground dead, its massive body smoking and smoldering in what remains of the zone of fire. The demon's remaining ice finally falls apart and the beast is reduced to an intense ball of poorly contained fire. Finally, the last chillfire destroyer is dragged towards the fighter. As it's outer ice begins to melt, fire starts to radiate out.

Jalissa beams with pride as Daggoth finishes off two of the enemies. She moves between the shelves and further away from the fire breach zone. Feeling much better about their situation and confident that Daggoth will take care of everything, the spell she fires off is strong for 12 damage to C. 1d20+11=23, 1d10+4=12

Ravenblade lets loose with a whirling attack, striking both brutes. He then retrieves a healing potion and drinks it's contents. "Stay away from that demon! He's about to explode, just like the last one!"

Ravenblade twists around and manages to shove the unstable core of fire down the steps. Unfortunately his twirling is a bit off balance and he misses the intact demon. He drinks a potion to regain the health he lost from the demon's aura.

    OOC: I do the tracking for his current surges under mechanics and just keep the total number in the stat block. I used to have mechanics as an open list so everyone could see it easily, but changed it into a drop-down to conserve space. I could the following in future posts instead (mostly helps Josh know who can have healing and who can't).

    Salazar moves towards one of the mystic orbs of energy, shadows clinging to him as he hexes the last foe. The mage then hurls a bold of pure arcane energy at the chillfire demon.

    Salazar will take the temp HP from his pact boon for the beholder dying, giving him 7 temp HP.

    Move action - Move to P8, granting concealment due to Shadow Walk.

    Salazar moves well away from the range of demonic fire and blasts the last destroyer for 17 damage.

    Megan suffers from the on going burning and barely has the energy to reach into her pack and drink a healing potion. Sylen looks troubled as he fires off two arrows. "Take it easy now Megan. Conserve your strength." Only one of his arrows hit for 6 damage. Ghena stays put and sends out a spray of color. Unfortunately the spell goes wide and knocks over one of the few intact bookshelves.

    "Ragnum, get out of the aura!" Mal calls to the dwarf as he rushes over there. Seeing that the dwarf won't make it in time, the Warlord tries to shove the demon away instead, missing badly. Seeing how badly Ragnum is hurt, Mal draws a healing potion in preparation.

    Mal rushes over to Ragnum and pours the Healing Potion into his mouth. He then stands in one of the display cases.

    OOC: Mal gives Ragnum a healing potion and goes to a display case to recharge an inspiring word in case we need it before a short rest. Oh, and WOOHOO! Flaming Glaive! One more level and I can get Hellfire Blood.

    Hedoni sits down, exhausted, glad that Mal is attending to the dwarf. He looks around at the damage to the library, knowing that no number of "Make Whole" rituals can fix this mess.

    After a moment, Hedoni stands and says, "I need to see if there's anything left in here to salvage."

    Arcana, History, and Perception checks: (1d20+14+1=31, 1d20+11+1=18, 1d20+7+1=22) (looking specifically, and quietly, for any trace of the Seed of Winter, or information leading to it).

    OOC: Hedoni uses a surge and whatever magical healing goodness the rest of the group can give him. I'd need 5 more than my surge to get back to full.

    Hedoni looks around the room to see what is salvagable. Ghena and Odiruri clearly start doing the same.

    Almost all of the books are either sopping wet, burnt, frozen of a combination of the three. A few of the texts still look in decent condition, for example:

    Alchemy Abstraction, volumes 1-12.
    Sorcery Inversion; a guide to trans-etherial enchantment
    Evoker's tome of Illusionary Cables
    Aeronautical Illusionism
    Immunological Summoning
    Celestial Treatise of the Doomed Wizard
    Scripture of Sapphire Barriers

    You look at what is left of the display cases. On some of the more intact pillars are plaques reading: Universal Time Circlet, Cursed Lens of Travel, Mask of Blasphemy, Terrible Jewel of Words ... And in the center, where the portal was, is a display case with a plaque reading "Seed of Winter." The case is obviously, and painfully, cracked and empty. It seems that someone or something came through the ice portal not long ago and took all the valuable artifacts with them.

    Ghena turns to the centaur in frustation "Dammit! You said there'd be powerful magic artifacts here. All that's left are some burnt books and broken glass!"

"Thank you for arriving when you did. Your aid today has saved us all perhaps, since neither of our groups alone would have survived."

    Ravenblade looks down the stairs to the west but only sees a longer corridor stretching into the darkness. The layer of dust on the steps seems only to have been disturbed by Hedoni's recent footprints.

    Jalissa says "If the Seed was anywhere, it would have been here..." She then points to the empty display case with the "Seed of Winter" plaque, "and it certainly is not here anymore." She begins to start combing through the wreckage and picking up intact books.

    Megan speaks up, her breath ragid "I've had enough of this place. Honestly, I don't think we have the strength to keep picking around in here." Then she turns to Odiruri with determination "I agree with Ragnum and I'm fed up. The Freeriders are done listening to you. The Stone-Skinned Queen will just have to keep looking for the Seed of Winter without us."
