I was reading about Wilderness travel and skill challenges.

When traveling through difficult terrain of sorts (Wilderness) the party has to make a nature check to stay on course. If the party makes the check they continue on; but if they fail they diverge off course one hex (or 1 square) usually provoking an encounter. These checks can be aided; however, if they fail the aid it causes -2 to the nature check. The idea is that bad directions are worse than no directions.

When employing this as a skill challenge, wilderness travel will have a complexity of 1 (4 successes before 3 failures?). If a natural 1 occurs on a check (not an aid) I will choose to automatically trigger an encounter.
