Salazar moves towards the escape hatch while Ravenblade moves towards the rising water.

OOC: The damage pattern works like freezing cloud. There is an initial damage roll when the creature enters the effect, and another damage roll at the start of his turn. It would have been better had Daggoth stayed in the water and swam.

OOC: Maybe I should have had Ravenblade run down the stairs next to daggoth instead and carry him. I assume Ravenblade would only move at half speed, but with the wavestrider boots, he would rise with the water. On the other hand, even not being immersed in boiling water may incur some steam damage for both characters, which would last longer moving at half speed. On the other hand, two more drudges suddenly appearing would block Daggoth from escaping.

OOC: Emily requested I re-post this suggestion, so taht we can backtrack and try something else. No one has to agree to it, but it might work out.

Daggoth starts at T3 in the water. He swims a double move to Y8 (his athletics check should be plenty fine to make it). Mal, then pulls him out of the water and drags Daggoth two squares to maybe Z9. Then Mal moves up the stairs and gets out of dodge. Hedoni then drags Daggoth up the stairs to Z10 or so. And if there is some sort of check and Hedoni fails, Salazar and Ravenblade can try.

OOC: Which is intuitively retarded by the way. Hey you get burned worse for being in the hot water less! woot! I think It's stuff like this that gets house rules put in place :P

OOC: I think retconning Ravenblade's last turn to be him running down and picking up Daggoth is the best idea.

OOC: Fine by me, but if the boiling water/steam work like freezing cloud, then even standing within the steam will cause the same damage, won't it?

Hedoni starts up the stairs, seeing the water behind him. He can only hope Daggoth is fast enough to outrun the water.

Ravenblade experiences a unique sensation of time distortion. The inside of his stomach twists as he moves backwards without his conscious will. He then watches in fascination as a very solid-looking image of him does exactly the same thing he did before, taking up a guarding position in front of the tunnel. However, he, or rather the second he, or is the first he, decides to run next to Daggoth and get ready to give him a piggyback ride.

1d20+3+1=12 (Strength roll)

OOC: Scenario 1: Move to AA11, blocking that tunnel. Wielding craghammers. Total defense.

Scenario 2: run to Z7 next to Daggoth, pick him up if possible with a minor action, otherwise brace for impact. Another alternative would be for Ravenblade to use his minor action to pull out a healing potion, so that Hedoni could Mage Hand it to Daggoth before Hedoni runs up the stairs. I don't know. Things are becoming very technical.

I'll let you guys decide which scenario Ravenblade should enact, since I'm about to get busy at work.

No, standing on the water will not lead to fire damage.

I agree that it seems unfair that an individual should take damage twice in one round from the boiling water. I also apologize that the effects of the boiling water were not understood from the beggining. I will allow Ravenblade to redo his last turn to pick up Daggoth as that seems the simplest way to correct this double damamge situation.

OOC: this is true. Neither heavy armor or heavy loads reduce their speed below 5.

OOC: Okay, this is all getting way to convoluded and confusing. I am making a dictatorial decision and delaying the water's turn until after Daggoth's turn. That way no-one has to redo a turn.

Perhaps Moradin had smiled upon him that day, and slowed the water just enough as a small reward for his service.

Perhaps it was his great distaste in being boiled alive like some oversized lobster.

Whatever the explanation, Daggoth's feet felt like they moved faster than he ever thought possible. He barrels up the path like a serpentine locomotive.
