Hedoni is down and so will be the fire wall.

Now what?

Mal doesn't need line of sight for his healing power, but it's burst 5, so maybe he needs to stand right by the wall for it to work (5 spaces diagonally and vertically).

We've only significantly damaged 2 trolls (orange and medium) and blown several dailys and encounter powers already. We should probably try to finish them off. With the fire wall down, hopefully the trolls will re-engage us in melee instead of using bows.

If Mal cannot heal Hedoni, what then?

For future scenarios: Mike, when you place the fire wall and we're fighting large creatures, please leave one space gap at the edge somewhere for us melee character to pass it. The large enemies would have to squeeze or be burned. You might also want to consider keeping it only one square high instead of the default 4 so the ranged characters can have line of sight from the ground.

I think Mal needs line of sight for his healing.

I really assumed you guys would just spend a turn going around the other buildings and attacking the trolls from that side. Leaving one space isn't practical, as you'd still take a lot of damage just being next to it. I could leave two if we're fighting trolls, since you guys could skirt across, but they couldn't. Leaving it one square high is probably the best bet, though.

I thought so, too, but it says:

Target: You or one ally in burst

Effect: The target can spend a healing surge and regain an additional 1d6 hit points.

Nothing about LoS, but as a burst 5, I think it needs LoE. AND I have to be within 5. Oh, and I have basically used no encounter and daily powers so far.

I've used nothing but at wills so far. Haven't had a good chance for a bigger power, plus my fire at will is good to prevent regeneration.

You only take damage for being adjacent to the wall of fire if you start your turn adjacent. You can walk by it unscathed, so one square of passage would have helped here.

Inspiring word does not require line of sight, unlike Mal's action point extra hp which requires you to see the warlord. I don't know about LoE.

Regarding Hedoni's current situation. Please give me suggestions of how I can have Ravenblade help him, aside from the obvious get there and put a bezoar in it. I'm out of shifting powers, so I can't even get to him easily. I'm more inclined to just fight medium and two-head right now since medium is almost dead.

I think fighting those trolls is the best way to save Hedoni. They're unlikely to further attack if he's down.

You will need fire to put medium down permanently, I think.

I think we need to NOT get separated so much.

I can control the area around me a bit, but I'm not very speedy. Hard to protect someone halfway across the map and on a 20 ft wall. :o

Are you suggesting that I have Ravenblade come back down then and we leave Hedoni lying around? Even if the trolls don't stomp on him for good measure, if he fails three death saving rolls he'll be dead and we might not have time to resurrect him at a temple during this siege.

I can attack medium with thundertusk boar strike and hopefully hit twice to push it off the wall or at least prone at the edge. Then you guys can put fire on it. I also have sweeping whirlwind that pushes on a hit. I'm more than happy to get off this wall, but would like a consensus please about how we deal with Hedoni.

PS: I agree that we shouldn't have become separated, but once that fire wall blocked us off from the trolls it was either go around or go up. I was also trying to help prevent Hedoni from getting clobbered being by himself.

Viktor, you did fine with Ravenblade. I think it is a good idea to knock Medium Troll down if possible. Monsters are generally supposed to be played to stop hitting unconscious PCs (although, I am sure there are some exceptions).

Thanks Josh. Too bad it made no difference and our wizard is down.

Depending on what medium does on its turn, I'll either go after it or two-head or both, but will try to knock whomever down. Unless somebody has a better suggestion.

Okay, so I think our best tactic is to take down orange quickly since it's the most wounded and already bloodied. If we do that (maybe with my suggestion for Mal to delay until after Ravenblade posted in the main thread), then how do we prevent Hedoni from dying in two more rounds?

Hedoni only has a 25% chance of dying in the next two rounds. Besides, we're in town - I'm sure he could be brought back to life.

A raise dead ritual takes 8 hours to perform and that would be 8 hours lost during the siege. We could of course bring Hedoni somewhere for the ritual (assuming we survive this battle) and then the four of us could put out fires elsewhere in the meantime. Maybe Emily could have you play some NPC cannon fodder during that time or something.

In any case, it sounds like you're okay with taking your chances, right? BTW, I think you forgot your +1 24 hour bonus in your death saving roll. No difference for this one, but next time maybe.

I just took Rav's turn and orange might be down again. Mal and/or Salazar should try to put fire on it.

I posted two move locations and want input from everyone about our next move. Should we attack brown war troll next or should we all go for two-head. Hit point-wise, it looks like war trolls have around 100+ hp, while two-heads have around 200+ from looking back at our last encounter with a two-head. I think war trolls have higher defenses though. If the consensus is to go after brown, then Rave will move to J23, otherwise he'll move to i23.

Thoughts?

We should take care of 2-Headed. I need to get back over there near Hedoni, anyways. I'll be able to move back towards 2-Head this turn, so I won't be alone.

Okay, I'll move next to two-head then and amend my last post in the story thread.

What's our plan for the fire battle?

Stay and fight the flying creatures?

Get Kyra and whoever and leave?

Both?

Well, Mal can go wherever. I was basically thinking of carrying the citizen. Kyra should probably be left to Ravenblade. Daggoth, Salazar and Mal are generally safer, though.

If you flee west, the flying creatures won't pursue you. They just want to feast on the dead.

Alos, you won't get much experience if you flee, just a little something for the innocent bystanders you rescue. However, if you come up with a plan to get the fires out, I'll give some experience back for that.

Battle against Lilicae, dark dwarves, with Hedoni's fire wall and Lilicae's blade barrier

Josh wrote
OOC: Take 5 damage (-27), Save failure vs. OGD, Save success vs. dying. If I take 11 more damage I am dead. Pink should die from OGD and the Caller will die within 1 hit, I think (which should come from the fire wall), so there shouldn't be any need to focus on either of those. So, before my turn comes up again...healing would be nice.

The only way I can have Rav administer a healing skill check (stabilize the dying, DC 15, don't know if half level is added, Rav's heal value is 14) or a healing potion is by running towards Mal (granting CA), then standard action for heal check or minor action to administer a healing potion. Either way, Rav would incur two OA attacks, one from green and one from turquoise. Even if both of those hit, Rav will survive and Mal will either not have to make a dying saving roll until after he takes damage or he regains 10 hp at cost of a surge.

Alternatively, I can have Rav kill green. Turquoise will die from the wall of fire. Pink has been dead for a while I think, and off the map, just not crossed out in the initiative list. I think it might be better if Daggoth shifts to G10, administers a healing potion to Mal, and then breathes on red and blue, marking them, or some other attack. Does anyone have an opinion about what I should do with Rav or how we can heal Mal?

Hedoni has Healing Word, which is a surge + 3d6, works at range 10, and is just a minor action. I realized after my turn that I should have used it as my action point - it would have both healed him AND allowed me to teleport him 4 (paragon path feature). Oh well.

But I'm planning on using it this turn coming up - still lets me sustain the wall of fire, take a standard action, and heal Mal.

Battle on the lava sea with the earthbergs

Below is the map and Salazar just cast dragonfrost on the crystal thing near the group. Rav is up next. Here are three tactical ideas.

1) Rav uses Root Gate daily to create a portal from our earthberg to the island where the gityanki stand, he then moves through and attacks them (teleporting from one gate to the other is a free action, allies only, as long as the other space is not occupied by one of us).

2) Rav uses Hammer Throw on Liliaceae to daze and then move around her (when dazed any readied attacks she had won't work since readied attacks are immediate actions). Rav could end there or use AP to try and push her into the lava for 10d10 damage assuming she fails her falling save roll.

3) A combination of the first two. Range attack Liliaceae, root gate for the rest of the group, and Rav says behind for one more round.

I'm in favor of number 1) since it means we can all get off the earthberg this round (Salazar next round) and we don't want to be hopping bergs with acrobatics and one of us falling to 10d10 damage. Naturally, the "striker" in me wants to go after Liliaceae with everything, but I still think all of us getting off the berg and near the githyanki would turn the battle to our favor. Thoughts?

Yikes, yeah, that's a rough hit if any of us fall into the lava. I think we should all get to the land as soon as possible. Hedoni has Arcane Gate available as well, which pretty much does the same thing, but with range 20 instead of burst 10 (which could put us well behind the githyanki).

After that, Hedoni will likely use a teleportation action on Liliaceae and the githyanki to put them in the lava.
