OOC: Can Hedoni still see the White Ice Spirit (the leader?) If not, could Hedoni follow in the direction he went?

OOC: Hedoni can't see the white spirit currently. It moved up the stairs to the Northeast. I can neither confirm or deny that Hedoni can follow the direction it went.

"The white one is calling for the Chillreaver!" Hedoni weighs his options, then disappears from the room, appearing far up the staircase, hoping his plan works.

Move Action: Use Dimensional Journey to teleport close to the White Ice Spirit.
Standard Action: Otiluke's Resilient Sphere, trapping White Ice Spirit.


OOC: Here's my plan - use Dimensional Journey to get as close as I can (teleporting up to 23 spaces, no line of sight needed for teleporting using that spell). If I can see White after that, I'll trap him in Otiluke's Resilient Sphere.

Otilukes Resilient Sphere: 1D20+26+1 = [16]+26+1 = 43

Otilukes Resilient Sphere hits Reflex 43 against White Ice Spirit. On a hit, the creature is trapped in a sphere with 100 hit points. On a miss, target is immobilized.

OOC: Hedoni gains +2 to AC and Reflex UENT for using a teleportation power.

You fight valiantly against Chillreaver's minions, but once the exarch of Tiamat appears in the flesh, you decide to pull back to a safer position. Chillreaver taunts, "You seek to stop me, but you are too late. The warning of your allies too fell on deaf ears in Celestia. You are all impotent fools, darting about from place to place in ignorance, while I serve Tiamat to bring her to full glory. Yes! I have already used the sacred ritual to summon Bahamut in his mortal form. He was all to easy to slay."

The mountain shakes violently and the walls and ceiling of cavern begin to crumble. From the other chamber you hear the dragon's parting words, "Stay if you like and buried under tons of ice and snow."

You use Hedoni's ring to safely teleport to his estate before the mountain buries you alive. Chillreaver also departs unscathed. In your haste, you fail to retrieve anything of value from the dragon's home.

Congratulations! The group has reach level 24.

The next day you reach Overlook and the mood is bleak. From time to time, mournful bells toll a dirge in the downcast city. The few citizens that are out and about are clearly nervous and afraid.

Following a night of rest in his usual room at the House of Sleep, Hedoni heads into the city center and finds at a seat at Michael's Blond for breakfast. Noticing the somber mood, he asks the barkeep what's happened since he was last in Overlook.

Hedoni learns that Michael's Blond doesn't serve breakfast after 10 of the clock, but they are offering this new meal called "brunch." Instead of questioning the staff about this curious hybrid food concept, the wizard asks if there is any new gossip in town.

The barkeep explains, her eyes brimming with tears. She tells of the terrible rumors that Bahamut is dead. Word of Tiamatís stunning victory over her ancient rival has thrown the fledgling Elisir Vale coalition into disarray.

"People everywhere are worried. Will this be enough for Tiamat? Is something worse coming?" Then, the barkeep hands Hedoni a champagne glass with a thick orange liquid and charges him triple the usual amount.

"Steady your resolve, friend," says Hedoni, sipping his beverage, "I've heard the same rumor. But it's very difficult to kill a god - believe me."

Thinking further, Hedoni inquires, "How did everyone hear about Bahamut? Was the town visited by a messenger? Did Tiamat appear? It seems this news has spread quickly."

      The barkeep answers affronted, "You do know that rumors are the specialty at this establishment? Right? We may not serve pigeon's crest soup or thrice malted whiskey like some other fancy joints in High Hall. No. What sets Michael's Blond apart is the top notch gossip. None of my customers has ever complained about the quality of the rumors here! Last month, did we go spreading that tale about the Nephelese rum embargo? NO. And it never did come true, did it?"

      Backing down from her tirade she adds "If you must know, I heard it from Polliver who heard it from a stable hand who works at the Ministry of War."

  •   For those at Belden's Rest
      The innkeep shakes his head, "Sorry, I haven't seen the Freeriders for a couple weeks. When they were here last, Megan said they were heading to Sherrbyr."

      Seeing Mal's disappointed look he adds, "There are some rumors going around about them, but if you want to hear a rumor, you'll have to buy a drink. Policy of the Inn I'm afraid. But we have a special this week, buy a drink and a meal and get a second rumor absolutely free."


You may also roll some skill checks to verify the quality of the rumors information.

Hedoni nods and smiles at the barkeep. After a moment, he says, "The whole town's heard this one by now - your gossip has spread its wings and left the nest. I'm sure you weren't the first or only person Polliver told..."

Hedoni finishes his "brunch", pays the bill with a healthy tip, and returns to his room at the House of Sleep after some browsing at the local stores.

      A waiter brings over the lunch special and frothy beverages. He says in a hushed tone, "The rumor of the day is that the Freeriders went to Celestia to try and prevent Bahamut's death, but they failed.."

      Seeing Salazar's winning smile he winks, "They also say that Bahamut preferred the company of men."

On the way to Celestia, you notice that Salazar isn't looking well. His usual golden tan has changed to an anemic palor. He also has trouble sleeping.

  •   Salazar's disturbing dreams
      The night after he visit's Belden's Rest, Salazar dreams of standing on the sun-drenched Red Rock cliffs overlooking the heart of the Elsir Vale. A shadow moves across the sky and then Bahamut lands majestically by his side. The divine golden dragon beckons for Salazar to climb onto his broad neck for a ride. The two glide over green orchards and healthy fields. Then suddenly, the dragon's tough scales split and tear. Bahamut is ripped apart in midair. Salazar plummets straight down, but before the sorcerer is crashes to his death, he wakes with a start.

      In another dream, Salazar is caught in a fierce rainstorm in Brindol. He looks for shelter and is relieved to find a splendid temple of Bahamat (although there are no such temples in such a small town). Once he enters the temple, a feeling of cold and dread fill him. He tries to light some of the braziers, but his magic won't work. Inside the gloom, instead of the radiant golden statue of Bahamut he expected to find, Salazar finds Amyria. The paladin is slumped over in pain. When she sees Salazar she laments, "Bahamut is gone!"
      There were others dreams too. Salazar doesn't remember all of them, but they leave him feeling drained.

OOC: Salazar's dragon sorcerer and paragon path powers have a 10% chance for flub (on natural 1s and 2s).
