Sir Murrak addresses the dragon. "Noble creature, I am Sir Murrak. If you wish to exact revenge, I would be honored to be your partner in destroying this foul spawn."

OOC: Em, can I have a new horsey?

Mal stands up woozy, barely able to assess what his cousin has just done.

Move Action: Stand up

Save vs. Dazed (+5 Iron Discipline, +1 24hr): 1D20+5+1 = [1]+5+1 = 7

OOC: Stand up, Save vs. Dazed (7), failed.

Illumination: Everburning torches in iron sconces along the walls fill the entire tower with bright light.
Ceiling: The ceilings in the first and second floors are 30 feet tall. The third floor has no ceiling, providing a view of the shimmering Astral Sea.
Stairs: Stairs emerge from the wall and wind up and around to the top floor. Spaces containing stairs count as difficult terrain.

Blood Rock: Where indicated on the tactical map, the floor is made from blood rock. A creature standing in one of these squares can score a critical hit on a natural die roll of 19 or 20.

Sir Murrak steels himself and his friends from punishment, then charges at the emperor again. Then he whacks the fiend again. Hard.

Minor: Banner of Valor (whenever Murrak hits with an attack, he and all allies within 2 get +2 att and all defenses UENT)
Standard: Charge to G26 (does not provoke OAs), using final holy smite _: 1D20+23+1+1+1 = [15]+23+1+1+1 = 41 2D10.MIN(3)+16+2+5+1D6+12 = [8, 9]+16+2+5+[4]+12 = 56 Hits AC 43 (forgot CA) for 56 damage (11 radiant) and dazed UENT. If the attack hit, Murrak and all allies within 2 of Murrak have +2 att and +4 to all defenses. If it missed, they just have +2 defenses.
ACTION POINT! (Murrak gets +2 to the attack from Valorous Action): Avatar of Righteous Wrath _: 1D20+23+1+2+2 = [20]+23+1+2+2 = 48 4D10.MIN(3)+16 = [3, 9, 5, 5]+16 = 38 CRIT for 56 radiant +_: 4D10 = [2, 5, 2, 8] = 17 = 73 damage (and prone) and the radius of Murrak's defender aura and righteous radiance extend to 3 until the end of the encounter.

OOC: In sum, if only the AP hit, 73 damage and prone, def aura and righteous radiance to a radius of 3, and Murrak and all allies get +2 att and +4 to all defenses UENT. If both hit, damage total is 129 (67 radiant), dazed UENT and prone, plus the other benefits. Almost makes up for the lack of horsey.

Damage:: 2D12+23 = [2, 11]+23 = 36

You search the emperor's chambers. You find fine clothing worth 8,200 gp, a silvery cloak spun from astral thread, a mithral mirror, and golden idol of Tiamat, each valued at 15,000 gp.

The dragon's horde is the real prize, containing 9 astral diamonds, 5 potions of vitality, 2 gems of valor, 3 potions of vigor, one talisman of good fortune, 2 diamonds, 10 rubies, 7 emeralds, 3 fire opals and 4,400 gp worth of residuum. The total value of the various jewels, coin and other finery is approximately 2300 platinum pieces. There are also a variety of magic items. (Please let me if you want to select your own magic items. Otherwise I'll ask Gary to pick something for your character.)

After finish searching the emperor's chambers, an astral skiff descends through the roof and settles on the second floor. Vlaakith and several githyanki separatist knights exit through the hatch. Vlaakith congratulates you on your victory " Well done Liberators! You must have plenty of divine blessing to have achieved such success." Then she asks, "and what of the Scepter of Ephelomon?"

OOC: Between that battle and the quest experience, the group has now reached level 21. Congratulations! We'll need level up and choose magic items before moving forward.

Yes, you were at level 19 and now you'll be at level 21. The party skipped several encounters in the emperor's stronghold which would have given most of that experience. I decided that since you overcame the challenge by directly confronting the boss instead of taking the long way through his lackeys, you still deserve to earn the experience. Also, the next adventure starts at level 21.

You accept Vlaakith's invitation to confront the red dragons. Vlaakith and her retinue head for the dragon caves at the opposite side of the city. Through the windows, the characters can see Tuínarath in flames, and fighting still rages in pockets. Not long after, the skiff descends and lands on a large floating rock amid the debris held by the red dragons. There, Vlaakith steps out and waits.

Moments later, an elder red dragon emerges from a cave followed by two more dragons of similar size. Before they have a chance to breathe, Vlaakith raises her hands to show them the scepter. She says the following: ďChildren of Ephelomon, the pact is ended and your worthy service is no longer required.Ē The elder red dragonís eyes narrow for a moment and then it says, ďYou have been suitable partners these long years. It would be a waste to see you destroyed. We shall part ways, but know this: When we next meet, it shall be as enemies.Ē

Unable to remain neutral, the Liberators attack the red dragons. The dragon's pride isn't enough to protect him. When defeat looms, the Elder Red Dragon asks to parlay. "Hold! I offer you a bargain. If you let me leave and my kind retreat safely today, I will share some crucial information about Tiamat's plans." Accepting the risk and the information, you agree to let the red dragons retreat to safety. "Know that my comrade, Chillreaver, the Elder White dragon, has been tasked with collecting compromising information or hostages to compel the members of the Convox to withdraw. Tiamat will see the leaders of the Elsir Vale cowed and impotent, if not completely in his power."

The group gains 28,000 XP
