There's a new game called Dungeon World in development and raising funds on Kickstarter (you can essentially preorder the 360 page game on PDF for $5 and get a bunch of extras included).

I think it looks really interesting. I'd love to give it a try. It's relatively rules light, compared to D&D 3.Xe and 4e, and relies more on DM interpretation, but still has interesting core rules with cool options for PC's.

There's more on the game on their site:

A simplified introductory version of the game is also on their site, in their downloads section ( http://www.dungeon-world.com/index.php/downloads/) as "Dungeon World Basic Playbook Set." The character options really spark my imagination. My favorite is probably the fighter's "create your own signature weapon" template.

The core mechanic is not d20. Rather, you roll 2d6 and add your mod. 6 or less is a failure and the DM comes up with consequences. 7-9 is a partial success, and 10+ is a complete success. Different options have different rules for partial and complete success, but even partial success is interesting.

Would anyone be interested in trying this game, either as a DM or player? I don't know if I have the time to try DMing again, but I think this would be easier to run than 4e. No maps required, more free form. Might be doable, if there's interest.

The full game is scheduled for an August release. The full game will be ~360-400 pages and include the fighter, cleric, thief, wizard, ranger, paladin, bard, and druid, more races, and lots of other options.

Sounds interesting and I will be doing a read-through on it. Not sure about playing or anything, but I'd like to atleast check it out.

I'm not against the idea, though the thought of learning a whole new system is a little daunting.

Cool. Definitely check out the basic rules. It's not too complicated. Their design philosophy is to give you cool stuff to do while keeping the rules out of the way.

I'll give it a look-see and I'd be willing to try it out. Probably not as a DM though :/ It takes me a while to assimilate a new game's feel.

Daniel, I don't have your email address so am posting here for you. We'd like to make you an offer to play more frequently in the PoL campaign. If you're interested, please send me an email at vpmoser@yahoo.com and we can discuss details.

Everyone else, if you're in regular contact with Daniel please let him know about this post. Thanks.
