OOC-Woah. It seems you never marked Garrl as Immobilized from my successful Living Missile attack. No save was ever made. He shouldn't have been able to move from where he landed prone.

On top of that, I can use it again this turn! I'd hate to say re-wind everything, as we've come so far. How about he is still immobilized? Once I receive your answer, I'll do my turn.

Massive attacks by Koliak leave Wavryn on the ground, and Garrl and Qaxar both hurt in the rocks. Garrl shakes off the immobilization as if it nothing. The big man rises and charges at Hammer, huge sword slashing

OOC: Unfortunately, yes he did. Wardens can save for things at the start of their turns. On another note, I probably won't be able to update till thursday night. Feel free to play Jak puppeteer if my turn comes up. Jak has no compunction about using his daily if a worthy opportunity pops up.

Koliak has remained silent. The quiet one and best of the group? There is much potential amongst the others. Garrl has made a big mistake and has misjudged his own ability. His ego has betrayed him. His greed has made him overwhelmed.

Koliak gestures with his arm and hand, and sends out a psychic blast once again. It is centered just behind group of three. The blast takes each of them, and they buckle from the pressure. Koliak's adept reasoning helps him focus his power against their cleric.

With a flick of his write, he moves Qaxar away from Garrl.

Koliak then heads into some trees for cover against any ranged attackers.

[STANDARD] Uses DIMENSIONAL SCRAMBLE vs. Qaxar, Garrl, & Bella : Dimensional Scramble vs. Qaxar, Garrl, Bella (1d20+7+1=18, 1d20+7+1=19, 1d20+7+1=25, 1d6+7=13)
[FREE] Uses ADEPT'S INSIGHT Augment 1 on the roll for Qaxar if it isn't good enough to hit : Adepts Insight on Qaxar (1d4+1=3)
[MOVE] Moves to E10

1st attack vs. Qaxar hits FORT:18 (21 w/ Adept's Insight) for 13 dmg *teleport to I7
2nd attack vs. Garrl hits FORT:19 for 13 dmg
3rd attack vs. Bella hits FORT:25 for 13 dmg

***If I can't use Adept's Insight after rolls are made, then it is really a very weakened encounter power and worthless to me. I'd like you to give consideration in allowing me to choose a different theme.

"Kol! Break their line and into the fire!" shouts Corvan as he notices the air distort around the enemies.

OOC: Assuming your burst was centered at K6 (not in your post), can I suggest teleporting Qaxar into the zone at M8 for 5 additional fire damage, and Bella to M7. If you also hit Garrl, maybe teleport him in as well to L8.

OOC-I totally missed the fire zone. I would certainly put them in the zone instead. Qaxar first (to M7), then Garrl. Bella is already in it. Not sure if I can get 2 of them in it, as it teleports them adjacent to burst.

OOC: I won't be able to update until tomorrow at least. Yes, you would have to use adept's insight on the roll. Look at it as a free +1 to an attack roll (or more with augment) once per encounter. You are free to change themes if you would like, as there will be a level gained after this encounter anyway. The reason for my ruling on this is the same as with Viktor's last turn. We have 4 ongoing games on DG, and I want to keep the rules consistent. It was ruled in another game (SoW) that the cavalier holy smite power, which adds damage on a hit (but is triggered by making the attack) has to be declared prior to the attack. So this is keeping that rule constant.

I can understand that.

I'm not trying to argue, but when it says the trigger is 'makes' a roll, that would mean to me that the die result is seen, then you decide to trigger the power. I agree that it is not clearly stated, but the power has almost everything the deva racial power has, minus the 'dislike' part.

There is no way to make a roll and call out the use of the power. Chances are the die result will be seen before you can call it out (thinking at a table top game even). The trigger is 'makes' a roll.

Maybe my logic is failing me in my old age...

Koliak's attack hits all three enemies. Qaxar and Garrl are teleported into the flames (18 total damage each) while Bella is brought to the brink of demise. Garrl shifts a square, then looks around the group and his gaze is fearsome enough to demand attention (marks Hammer, Jak, Dwim, and Corvan). "Die, slave!" he shouts at Corvan before swinging. Corvan's shield deflects the blade so it only hits his arm, not his heart, dealing 9 damage (OOC: I know it's not a power, just some flavor for a 19 attack roll and a 1 damage roll). The goliath then steels his nerves and body for the coming attacks (regains 20 HP). Garrl then feels the singe of the flame once again.

OOC: Per the ruling, I used AI for Koliak, hence no PPs left.

Argent Rain Zone - Any creature entering or ending its turn in the zone takes 5 fire damage. Lasts ENT Tchort.
Readied Actions - Tchort (IW), Koliak (OoMC)
Initiative Order
Corvan - 17/26 (4/9, 1 AP), marked by Garrl
Ret (Halfling Rogue) - no damage (at O15)
Hammer - 13/31 (7/11, 1 AP), TyRage, prone, marked by Garrl, bloodied, dominated ENT Bella
Drogon (Dragonborn Sorcerer) - dead
Koliak - 22/22 (6/6, 0/3 PP, 0 AP)
Garrl (Goliath Warden) - down 13 (at L9)
==>Jak - -7/27 (6/12, 0 AP), prone, unconscious, dying 0/3, marked by Garrl
Tchort - 25/26 (7/9, 0 AP)
Wavryn (Genasi Swordmage) - dead
Qaxar (Human Cleric) - down 27 (at M7), bloodied
Dwimmerlaik - 16/24 (6/7, 2 AP), marked by Garrl
Bella (Human Mage) - down 30 (at L8), bloodied

Bleed. Spurt. Gush.

Death Save failed.

OOC: It occurs to me too late that minotaurs get a melee basic whenever they fall to 0 hp or below as an immediate reaction. I could have swatted Bella before falling under. Next time perhaps. Also, can you mark unconscious targets?

Despite their differences, Tchort calls out. "Corvan, I can't believe you're such a stupid, bald human for thinking you could ever lead us effectively. There's a reason I didn't let you wear any of the rings, because you're expendable and couldn't hit an enemy if it was thrust right in front of you." The tiefling bard scoffs at Corvan's growling reply and hopes the message came across as he focuses on commanding Jak. "Jak, by Dol Dorn or whoever the hell you believe in, this is no way to die honorably. Awaken and retaliate!" Still scornful, Tchort disdainfully brushes past Bella, glaring at her under his hood. From the side of the rocks he flourishes his wand at Qaxar. A loud note blasts the human cleric's mind, pushing him into the fray where it seems Corvan did get the message. The fighter spits defiantly in Garrl's face as his weapon hums and cracks Qaxar's skull despite the attack against him. Tchort chuckles as he sees humans fighting humans.

Minor: Majestic Word Jak, healing for 10 damage and shifting him to J8
Move: to L5 by passing Bella at K6
Standard: Staggering Note Qaxar, WILL, +1 24h, +2 rings, 4 damage and push 2 on a hit, granting an ally a free mba. (1d20+5+1+2=27, 4=) (Actually 28 since it's a bloodied target)
Free MBA: MBA Qaxar (1d20+8+1=17, 1d6+4=10) (Actually roll of 19, since I forgot the +2 for flanking with Jak, but still a 17 since I also forgot the -2 for being marked by Garrl)

OOC: I decided to have Corvan make the MBA even though Dwimmerlaik's is better because Corvan has the higher defenses against Garrl's retaliation and I'm hoping Qaxar is killed so Gary can have Dwim teleport towards Bella to kill her. Also, if Garrl retaliates he'll have used up his immediate action for this round. 28 WILL vs Qaxar for 4 damage. Corvan hits Qaxar 17 AC for 10 damage and marking. The zone is now gone.

EDIT: forgot to mention where I'm pushing Qaxar to: K9

OOC: I don't see why you can't be marked while unconsious.

For future reference, I can use one of my at-wills as an MBA:

Icy Skewer - MBA, +9 vs AC, 1d10+8 cold damage and gain a +2 power bonus to all defenses against the target's attack until the end of my next turn, range melee, one creature.

If I hit, the +2 bonus probably puts me at defender level defenses.

OOC: Yeah, I knew Dwimmerlaik had a better MBA (I've used it in the previous battle), but Garrl's immediate warden attack would be an interrupt, so no defenses yet and the extra defenses you get would only be vs Qaxar anyhow. I basically chose to sacrifice Corvan instead of Dwimmerlaik since you can get at Bella before her turn and do more damage (assuming Qaxar is killed by Tchort and Corvan's combo).

OOC: Will do a full update tonight. But Tchort hits and slides Qaxar. Corvan misses (barely) Qaxar, but Garrl misses Corvan (the extra defense made the difference. He would have hit Dwim). Qaxar also misses Corvan (flub). (Corvan would have been in much pain if those hit, as Garrl would have dealt 16 and Qaxar 9 more. Alas, the DM's dream of killing off a level 1 character will have to wait.) Dwim is up.

Dwimmerlaik stabs at the Qaxar, sending the cleric to whatever god he worships, then blinks to the other side of the melee before unleashing a blast of fey magic that attempts to entangle the remaining enemies in a frosty grip.

Standard action - Icy Skewer against Qaxar.

Icy Skewer Qaxar (CA, Ring, 24H) (1d20+9+2+1+1=20, 1d8+10=11)

Hits AC 18 (forgot being marked) for 11 cold damage, and on a hit, I gain a +2 power bonus to all defenses against the target's attack until the end of my next turn. If that kills Qaxar, free action to teleport to L8 with Soul Step.

Action Point!

Standard action - Star Shackles, close burst 2, enemies only. Targeting Garrl and Bella, using Dark Reaping on Garrl triggered by Qaxar's death.

Star Shackles, close burst 2, enemies only. Targeting Garrl and Bella, using Dark Reaping on Garrl triggered by Qaxar's death. (CA and DR vs Garrl, 24H and Ring on both) (1d20+6+2+1+1=18, 1d20+6+1+1=17, 1d6+8=9, 1d8+4=7)

Hits Fort 18 for 9 damage and 7 necrotic damage on Garrl, and hits Fort 17 for 9 damage on Bella. On a hit, the target is grabbed and I can choose which of my Fort or Reflex they have to beat to escape. I choose Reflex, which is 15.

Move action - Shift to M8.

Dwimmerlaik's attacks are deadly to both Qaxar and Bella, and two more bodies join the surface of the road. The sounds down the road get louder, and a huge scarred man runs into view. He seems to move with grace that belies his size and obvious skill with the axe he wields. Corvan, Dwimmerlaik, and Garrl all feel the bite of his steel (14 damage to each). On his heels, six guards in the livery of the Shadow Tower run in formation, but do not attack. "Stop this at once, or die where you stand!" Corvan recognized the Battle Sergeant easily, along with his personal guard troop, armed with longswords and shields.

Wincing at the pain inflicted by the Battle Sergeant, remembering it from training classes, Corvan nods his agreement. "You're lucky someone's here to save your life." he spits at Garrl and walks away, secretly hoping the fool will attack, and holds his hand out to help Jak up off the ground. Just in case, he keeps his defenses up.

Ret throws his crossbow down at his feet and walks up to the Battle Sergeant, mixing salutes with grovelling. "It was HIS idea," he says, pointing to Garrl.

OOC: With that, I will consider the battle part of this over. Please roleplay the remainder of this with the Battle Sergeant. The group gains 1500 XP, for a total of 6500. Congratulations, you have reached level 2!! Please email me your new character sheets when you have them, and then we will move on. I will be out of town Tuesday through Sunday, so we will pick up then, except for the roleplay of the fallout from this. Josh, any idea when Nathan will be back? I am hesitant to have someone else level his character.

Stand. Howl. Stop.

OOC: I don't know. I talked to him briefly yesterday, but not about DnD. The last time I did was about a month ago, and it had sounded like he was going to come back soonish.
