Lan cheers as well, then goes up to Govaan and nods his respect. "You and yours honored us today." and turns to Murdaak, "Next time I will not go so easy on you." he tells the warrior with a sly grin, clearly jesting.

Lan then moves to his companions, congratulating them, and soothing their wounds.

Ardent Surges (1d6=4, 1d6=5, 1d6=4, 1d6=5) Geen, Khav, Kurvilis, Sentinel

OOC: I added one action point to everyone. Please correct if that is wrong.

Party Condition:
Geen: 45/45, 5/8 surges (1 AP)
Khav: 39/40, 6/8 surges (1 AP)
Kurvilis: 36/36, 6/8 surges (2 AP)
Lan: 41/41, 5/9 surges (1 AP), 4/4 PP
Sentinel: 41/50, 7/11 surges (1 AP)

OOC: That looks fine, except that Sentinel would have used his Warforged Resolve to gain 5 HP before you healed him. This should put him at 46/50.

OOC: Good point. Since you mention using encounter powers during the healing phase, would it be considered not in the spirit of the rules if Lan were to use his bloodfury power to make himself bloodied for the extra +1d6 healing of allies? Technically, he could use the halberd's power for two ardent surges (martyr's surge) and heal 2d6 instead of 1d6, then another short rest and repeat during the third short rest.

Geen shows his respect and nods towards the combatants, while holding his crossbow up some.

He falls into rank with his new companions.

"Glad the fighting is over. These are good folk. No more unnecessary hurt. Oh, and thanks for the healing." says Geen with a wink.

"There are two pieces of Arkantaash that are said to be deep within Six Kings. There is a place called the Moon Pool. You will know it when you see it. Both pieces should be close to the Moon Pool, although time or creatures may have changed that.

"There is an obelisk just inside the entrance that will take us deeper into the cavern. Lurtaan's cord should be there. You will remain in the upper levels, where Zaarani's solitaire should be. "

The hobgoblin leader reaches into her bag and pulls out two stones. "Take one of these. We will have the other one. They will help us keep in touch while exploring. Do not hesitate to use them." She hands one of them over.

OOC: Yeraa provides you with one half of a pair of Sending Stones. They are attuned to each other. They have an at-will power: Standard Action, UENT, any person speaking into one stone can be heard by those near the other stone as though he or she were standing in the other stone's place. At the end of your next turn, the stones are exhausted and require a minor action to recharge. Choose who should hold this and ask any questions you have before you go.

Lan does not take the sending stone, expecting that Senintel, their leader to outward appearances, will take it. He does however ask, "What does this solitaire look like and what kind of traps can we expect?"

Khav bows to Yeraa and her people. "It was an honor to face you in combat this day." He then listens for any additional information Yeraa's answer to Lan's question provides.

"Zaarani's solitaire is a golden spherical gem. When you see it, I believe you will know you have found it." Pausing a moment, Yeraa continues, "Hard to say what we might find there. Spirits still defending ancient halls from foulspawn. Lost goblin clans living in the darkness for five thousand years. Many bold warriors go into the caverns beneath Six Kings, looking for weapons or glory. Not so many come out again."

Sentinel examines the sending stone and finds it to be magical. He can recall some of the gnomes in the Library of Korrenberg using them, but usually only the more influential gnomes, or those of House Sivis. In fact, he can remember hearing that House Sivis makes Sending Stones and links them in pairs. It is, however, possible, though very rare and VERY expensive, to link the Sending Stones in groups.

"The passages should link near the Moon Pool. It will likely be too difficult to reach each other before then, should the need arise."

The two groups walk together into the cave. The mouth of the cave opens into a dark passage descending steeply as it follows a northward path inside the mountain. After about 80 feet, the tunnel dead-ends; two massive rubble falls have resulted in the collapse of the ceiling. "We must clear the western pile and move on. Our goal is through there," Yeraa explains. The two parties spend the next hour clearing the rocks and debris.

A cavern opens up beyond the corridor, veins of purple byeshk ore gleaming in its walls. To the northwest, you can see another narrow passage partly blocked by rubble but still passable. "An ancient tomb lies this way," says Yeraa, pointing past the rubble. "Within stands the obelisk portal my seekers shall use to go deeper into the Six Kings' vaults. You'll go your own way from there, so we can all get home more quickly."

A rough-floored tunnel gives way to a large chamber. You stand among the rubble of its collapsed southeastern corner. The walls of this place are smooth dark stone, the ceiling arching 30 feet overhead. At the center of the chamber stands a six-sided obelisk. Dusty runes mark the structure's sloping sides, its top rising to within 10 feet of the ceiling. Around it stand four other open hexagonal structures - broken and looted communal sarcophagi, judging from the bones and other remains littering the floor around them.

OOC: Free play. Let me know what you want to do.

Lan takes some time looking around at the cavern and the architecture, trying to discern traps from decor. He also surreptitiously tries to sense if any of the hobgoblins are behaving like they've been here before or giving anybody evil looks.

Lan cannot detect anything unusual from the Wordbearers, other than that Yeraa seems very eager when looking at the obelisk. The ardent can also see runic symbols and pictographs on the obelisk. He can feel some magical energy emanating from it, but cannot tell what at the moment. It will probably take a closer look.

Geen carefully edges forward and looks to gain higher ground for a better view, and does so by climbing to the top of the closest broken obelisk. Once up there, he crouches down and looks around, while keeping an eye on the party.

Excited by the ruins, Sentinel walks forward, oblivious to everyone else's caution.
"Kurvilis, would you look at these veins of byeshk? These are impressive, and given the traffic this room has seen, I'm surprised they haven't been mined since the room was rediscovered. Byeshk was an important mineral at the end of the Empire of Dhakaan. Weapons containing it, such as Ashurta's Blade, were capable of delivering vicious blows to the Daelkyr."

Walking into the room, Sentinel examines the sarcophagi and obelisk.

arcana, dungeroneering, history, nature, perception, religion checks (1d20+12+1=33, 1d20+3+1=11, 1d20+11+1=16, 1d20+3+1=21, 1d20+3+1=12, 1d20+11+1=30)

Geen and Khav can't see a whole lot new from their vantage points. The sarcophagi seem to be built more as mass graves than as burial locations for individual goblins. Extra skeletons are strewn about the floor all over the room. The obelisk obviously has many runes and symbols on it, but they are too small to read or interpret from so far away.

Sentinel, meanwhile, walks right up to the obelisk and begins examining it. The obelisk is a magical portal, seeping necrotic energy from the other side. Sentinel also can tell that the magic is only attuned to those of the goblin races. He senses that when the portal is activated, it will swap those that use it with the necrotic energy from the other side. On the obelisk itself, Sentinal sees a series of pictograms. It will take some time, though, to decipher them. In addition, Sentinel catches a glint in the bones near him (C5). Sentinel cannot see any interesting equipment or items in particular and doesn't think that this room was meant to hold valuable items.

"If you want to get started, please feel free to do so. I find these pictographs fascinating, and would like to spend a few minutes examining them. They are quiet ancient. But, I do not want to hold you up."

OOC: From your description, Sentinel believes it would be dangerous to be near the obelisk when it gets activated by a goblin? Sounds like necrotic energy gets shoveled into the room.

Geen nods in agreement.

"If what you're saying is the case, then it sounds like something could come back through in the exchange. Trading goblins for something sinister, I think." offers Geen.

He remains at his vantage point atop the broken obelisk and remains hidden from anything else that might show up.

The pictograms show a series of goblins using the obelisk to teleport deeper under the mountain into a room that holds another obelisk. It is obvious that only goblins may enter the portal, but also that the energy on the other side will swap into this room. Yeraa and the other Wordbearers walk forward. She looks very eager, but patiently waits for the Keepers to examine the obelisk on their own.
