Sentinel's sword glows, and yet another powerful blast shakes the canyon walls. Knowing the attack greatly effected the leader, Sentinel makes some space and gives an offer. "The battle is but over. You fought well, but we are victorious. Grant us passage as honored and worthy foes."

Lan feels the now familiar pressure building within that is Sentinel's translocation tactic. He wards his mind and body to repel the attempt.

OOC: Let's save the warp and I also don't want to put Lan within range of Chib. Seems like the plan is to take the boss prisoner then? I'm fine with that.

OOC: I'm just hoping to avoid further combat and damage. I'm fine with giving him an honorable death in combat; I was hoping that Josh would play him as interested in saving his own hide. If I back off, does that completely hose Khav's damage options? I know rogues make their own CA gravy often enough, but I don't know if he has an immediate trick up the sleeve.

Sentinel lifts his sword once again and an arcane blast explodes from it, hitting both hobgoblins next to him (10 dam to Green and Naersaar, WLR on both). He alters his mark of protection from the soldier to the boss, as well.

"Never! You give us maps, notes, or die. Kech Sharaat not forget you." Naersaar attacks the warforged and missing with the first scimitar. Naersaar yelps from Sentinel's arcane riposte before hitting with the second (12 dam to Sentinel, miss once granting Lan or Sentinel 6 THP, 3 dam to Naersaar from WLR).

The other hobgoblin steps back from the warforged and smashes Khav's head in (CRIT for 14 dam, slowed/marked UENT).

OOC: Chib Naersaar missed on his first attack, which allows Lan or Sentinel to have 6 THP. If given to Sentinel, he has 1 more HP total than he has now and is not damaged. If given to Lan, he has 6 THP now.

      Low Slopes: These shallow slopes drop 5 feet, cutting the landscape around the path into three distinct tiers. The slope squares are difficult terrain.
      Rubble: The squares of loose rock and gravel are difficult terrain.

"Sentinel! Engage your self-repair mechanisms when you can!" calls out Lan as he benefits from the residual mental anguish Naersaar is feeling.

OOC: 6 thp to Lan. Hey Nathan, now you can finally put your warforged resolve to good use. :) Since Lan is out of ardent surges and power points I figured you're better off healing yourself.

With just one sharpshooter left, Geen makes it a competition. He is, afterall, an expert marksman. He has trained for years with his crossbow. A target behind soft, or even hard cover, really has no protection at all to Geen's keen eyesight.

He moves past the next boulder, eyeing up the opposing sniper. He slides onto one knee, steadies his crossbow, and let's a potent shot fly. The bolt strikes the goblin, piercing him clean-thru the shoulder. It can't help but yelp in pain. 'It has to realize it's no match for me.' thinks Geen.

Geen then quickly moves behind the boulder and plants his back to it, hiding in the shadows, making himself a very, very small target.

Geen walks out into the open to get a better look at the goblin archer before stepping back behind the boulder and hitting the goblin through the shoulder (19 dam to Sharpshooter 2, bloodied).

OOC: Geen only has cover. The boulders provide cover OR superior cover IF you are behind a boulder and a tier above.

OOC-That must be a special rule of the encounter then. Sorry. I was looking at the boulder and not 1 corner of his square can touch mine, which is why I said I'm in superior cover. If the encounter has differing rules, that is fine. I just didn't know.

OOC: Yeah, it is. It is listed in the Features. And it is fine. Figuring out cover and superior cover and dealing with all of the rules related are tough. Especially in PbP where we can't as easily discuss it.

Khav tries again to stab the Chib, but again misses.

Move action - Tumbling Trick to shift up to 3 squares, but not actually moving. The next time I hit an enemy with a melee basic attack this turn, I also do damage equal to my Str mod (+3) to a different enemy, which must be adjacent to me.

Standard action - Melee basic attack with short sword against Chib.

MBA Chib (CA, marked, 24H, SA, LBE) (1d20+10+2-2+1=16, 1d6+6+2d6+1=22)

Hits AC 16 for 22 damage to Chib Naersaar, and on a hit, 3 damage to Green Soldier.

Kurvilis' illusions again haunt the chieftain.

Phantom Bolt Chib 1d20+10+1=30, 1d8+9=16 Hits WILL 30 for 16 psychic damage and -2 to hit Kurvilis UENT. Damage is non-lethal.

    • Boulders: These 5-foot-high slabs of rock (Athletics DC 10 to climb) are cover terrain. If a creature has cover from one of these, it has superior cover against a creature on a lower terrain tier.
      Low Slopes: These shallow slopes drop 5 feet, cutting the landscape around the path into three distinct tiers. The slope squares are difficult terrain.
      Rubble: The squares of loose rock and gravel are difficult terrain.
      Sheer Cliff: The cliff leads vertically up into the mountains for hundreds of feet (Athletics DC 15 to climb), with no particular resting spot.

Sentinel gathers himself then moves towards the hobgoblin soldier and strikes out with a thunderous two handed chop.

Sentinel runs a quick self-diagnostic that heals some of the minor damage (4 HP, 4 THP) and then cuts the hobgoblin with a thunderous swing (8 dam to Green, 6 dam if it moves away, bloodied).

"Chib! Stay away from me!" The hobgoblin steps back into the canyon and feels the thunder once again (6 dam to Green). The hobgoblin swings his flail at Khav's head, but misses.

There is a jolt of pain as the arrow pierces Geen's shoulder. 'Ouch.' thinks Geen, 'That bugger had a better bead on me than I thought.'.

"I'll take my position to yours, all day, everyday." Geen calls out to the goblin sharpshooter. With the two boulders being about the same size, Geen hopes to make the goblin think about it...

Geen leans out the opposite side this time, and does a double-tap on the trigger. Sheesh...both shots are off. One hits the front of the boulder, the other way wide. Not to be outdone, Geen leans out the other side, and flicks a knob on top of his crossbow. With no time to waste, he fires off a 3rd shot. Geen can't be sure if this shot hit. He ducks back behind the boulder and listens for a body hitting the ground....

[STANDARD] Uses TWIN SHOT vs. Sharpshooter : Twin Shot vs. sharpshooter (1d20+10+1=13, 1d10+1=11, 1d20+10+1=13, 1d10+1=6, 1d6=4)
[MINOR] Uses SWIFTSHOT CROSSBOW for a free MBA vs. Sharpshooter : Swiftshot Crossbow MBA vs. sharpshooter (1d20+10+1=16, 1d10+5=11, 1d6=5)
[MOVE] Moves to D18 (only if Sharpshooter is killed)

1st attack hits AC:13 for 15 dmg (w/ +4 HQ)
2nd attack hits AC:13 for 6 dmg
3rd attack hits AC:16 for 16 dmg (assuming prior two shots missed, +4 HQ included)
***Remember, my attacks ignore cover/concealment, so I think the 16 may be hit.

Figuring that the chib will be able to answer any questions they might have, if anyone will be, Khav swings to finish off the last goblinoid foe.

Move action - Ambush Trick to move up to my speed, not actually going anywhere, and until the end of my current turn, I gain CA against any enemies within 5 squares of me that have none of their allies adjacent.

Standard action - Melee basic attack with short sword against Green Soldier.

Khav steps back and then forward again, dodging a retaliation attack before putting the last hobgoblin down once and for all (18 dam to Green, killed).

OOC: I am not sure I like the Ambush Trick with no movement (in fact, I didn't like Tumbling Trick with no movement, either), so I played it as having movement. I rolled an OA, that missed. Although, I am not sure what I would have done had it hit, I probably would have just kept your turn as is and then mentioned this. I have checked on the forums and there is some disagreement, so I am willing to discuss it, but I do not like the idea of using the Rogue at-will movement powers using no movement at all. I understand that there is no minimum requirement listed, but it seems like it is meant to be a move to get into position where you obtain the benefit. Anyways, I would like to discuss this a bit, but for now, I am assuming there is a 1 square movement minimum on it.

Anyways...You have gained 976 XP (195.2 XP each), which means you ahve 3797.1 XP each, or...LEVEL 4!!! Get your updated characters to me soon, and we can move on. Oh yeah, and Chib Naersaar is unconscious.

Lan looks around nervously, peering up at the cliffs, expecting more enemies to ambush them. When he only sees Geen stand from behind a boulder he relaxes his shoulders and waves to the ranger. "Thank you for watching our backs there! It felt like eyes were staring at my back during the entire skirmish!" he calls out to him.

Lan then focuses on the pile of bodies around Sentinel, frowning. Pursing his lips, he goes about searching their belongings after asking Khav to tie up the Chib.

OOC: I'll wait to heal everyone until after we level up since everyone's surge values will be different. Only searching the bodies for now. Scott, I really enjoyed reading your one-on-one sniper hide and seek descriptions.
