Corydimbiddle holds his dagger at the ready, making as if to throw it. His voice is a little too quiet and shaky, coming accross mostly as a plea.

As if sensing weakness, one hobgoblin warrior shouts out. "Did you hear that!? He sounds like he's going to piss himself in fear! Maybe they really are just talk and want to stab us in the back 'cause they can't stab us in the front. We're more than them, maybe if we rush them, it'll be over quick and we can at least steal their things" Although his words don't convince two of the non-hostile Bloodreavers, the third one frowns thoughfully and raises its weapon agressively (pink's non-hostility removed due to skill check failure).

Edeya lectures her brother before firing a warning shot at the far goblin "See, this is why it is better to NOT kill everyone all the time." Then in a louder voice she tries to appeal to their humanity. "I know it must be hard to believe, but we are here to rescue the captives. Specifically, there was little girl, Anna. We wish to return her to her family."

OOC: Non lethal damage.

Edeya's "warning shot" does much more harm than anticipated and the hobgoblin sniper is now bleeding from multiple wounds. The githzerai seeker then tries to appeal the the Bloodreavers, but the mixed signals of her attack and words leave most of them confused regarding her intentions. She has the sense that they are for the most part afraid to attack, but also afraid to turn their backs.

When she mentions the little girl Anna, the hobgoblin warrior Demuriath attacked a moment ago speaks up. "Anna? Wasn't that the name of the girl who was so feisty?! Yes, I remember that bugbear recruit who practically pleaded with Krand to take care of the child slaves when he saw Anna and the others. Maybe these guys really are just looking for the slaves and are not as evil and bloodthirsty as we heard from those flaming goblin siblings that once more ran out on us." Edeya thinks back and does remember the bugbear recruit that Light's Shadow captured in the Halfmoon Inn, and what he said.

Looking around, Karkin lays a hand gently on the wolf's head, says something in the wolf's ear, and gestures out into the field of battle."Many ready to lay down weapons. No need die for dead general with no honor. We offer out. New option. Krand dead... all can start over. New life. Go, do what one want, I not care. Term simple, slaves go free." With those words, he follows Azad towards the corridor.

The dire wolf looks at the furthest hobgoblin and growls. Keeping an eye on the bloodied hobgoblen archer, the wolf carefully stalks closer to the humanoid. It stops before a hobgoblin and sniffs, trying to decide where this former ally now stands.

OOC: Nathan, please clarify Harkin's and Dire Wolf's movements and re-do them. I'll resolve your entire turns after that.

The swarm of bats zone is difficult terrain, so Harkin cannot get as far as you'd like without double-move. Also, Jonathan had asked about moving through or incurring OA's from non-hostile enemy characters. To see my answer, please look at post #472. The chains are described in the features pull-down.

OOC: Sorry about that. I missed the difficult terrain part. I obviously ompletely misread the part about moving through the nonhostiles. Lets have Harkin move to W13 and the wolf move to M13/N10 square if I follow the chain rules. He can sniff purple. I was thinking that if the wolf knew the chains were a very bad thing he would avoid them.

Harkin's broken words somehow focuses on the core of the confrontation between Light's Shadow and the Bloodreavers. As he speaks, the dire wolf jumps off the balcony and dashes along the chamber growling. It stops suddenly and merely sniffs a goblin who promptly drops its weapons even though it was already convinced not to fight any more.

The red hobgoblin sniper who was shooting from just outside the chamber sees most of the Bloodreavers swayed and then the rushing dire wolf is too much to handle. He drops his bow and runs away and out of sight. The others maintain defensive stances or raise their weapons at the ready.

OOC: Insight with intimidate success, red panics and flees!

Demuriath senses that the foes are feeling increasingly less impressed by sweet words of peace. His instincts tell him that a more aggressive or impressive display would end this impasse. The Bloodreavers meanwhile remain cautious or at the ready.

"Enough of this, I'm going to look for the captives." Frustrated at this impass and the goblins' refusal to back down, Edeya decides to stop talking and act. She hurtles herself over the statue, moves determinedly past the goblins in search of Anna and any other captives.

Deciding to forego further discussion, Edeya lets her actions speak for her. She all but flies over the statue pedestal and rushes towards her own swarm of buzzing bats. It looks as if the bats part to all sides allowing her to pass through, making it seem that they fear her presences. As she enters the southern secret passage, Edeya sees the two ranged goblinoids flinch in fear at seeing her approach. They hastily retreat backwards into the southern room, reacting so quickly she guesses they must have readied their plan to retreat in advance.

Edeya exits the secret passage into a pantry. She stops a little further in at the entrance to a common dining room and kitchen and looks around. She sees a mess of plates, upturned chairs, mugs, a pit on a spit and other signs of recent eating. Looking around she also sees a middle-aged woman in dirth clothes, barefoot, with one ankle manacled to a long chain that ends in the wall next to the spit. Edeya recognizes her as Susana Wrafton, the innkeeper from Winterhaven, one of the several people missing and obviously kidnapped.

Susana looks at Edeya fearfully, then towards the two goblinoids in the room. One of them speaks. "S-stay back or I'll shoot! You said you came just for the slaves, so here's one of them. Now let us go!" he demands fearfully. The other goblin, one of the women archers merely lowers her weapon, acknowledging that she will not retaliate. Susana merely looks on silently.

OOC: Blue is now non-hostile. Green is the last remaining enemy.

Azad heeds Edeya's call for aid and rushes into the southern room. Once there, she calmly soothes that last nervous goblin who eventually lowers his weapon. Seeing this, Susana Wrafton's face opens up in surprise tinged with hope.

"Is-is that you....Azad? Can it be true?" she say, her voice cracking with pain. Looking at her more closely, Azad can tell that Ms. Wrafton has been through a terrible ordeal. Her clothes are torn and filthy, her manacled ankle badly bruised and possibly even festering, and she appears much wearier and older than you remember her. This was the woman that Azad had asked to quietly inform her patrons to leave the inn, having been told of the dangerous hunter Ninaran. She was fearless then. Now she looks as if the slightest sound might make her jump. It will take some healing and likely lots of time before she recovers.

The Bloodreaver's, acknowledging Light's Shadows intentions, all relax and lower their weapons. Neither group completely trusts the other, but the battle is over. For now, the Bloodreavers mill about, unsure what to do.

OOC: The party gains 1400 xp for a group total of 27000 xp. Level 5 will be at 27500. I left the Bloodreavers around in case you want to interact. Feel free to heal, talk, search, etc. Please specify exactly where/what you're examining if you do so.

Demuriath searches General Krand's corpse. Some of the Bloodreaver's look on with something akin to envy in their eyes, as if they perhaps would have liked to pilfer the chieftain's belongings.

Aside from his rather mundane weapons, Demuriath finds a small key with many notches. Grabbing it eagerly, he turns away to stand up and knocks his elbow on the skeletal protuberances of Krand's scale armor and they chip off. Looking more closely, he can see that the armor is quite fine and would look much better without all the bones around it. In fact, gazing on it and touching it Demuriath somehow feels renewed energy for a split second.

OOC: Krand's armor is Heartening Scale Armor +2, on Gary's wishlist. The small key is for....something you'll have to figure out on your own.

"Do...do you know where they other kidnap victims are?" Corydimbiddle asks the goblins.

OOC: If there is time to replenish infusions: we have 14 surges and need 2 to replenish first. I think Azad, Demuriath and Harkin could each use 2, bringing Azad and Demuriath to full and Harkin to 42/44. That uses 6 more surges, bringing us to 6 total. That means 1 left for everyone and someone gets 2 (Azad?).

Demuriath hands the key to Cory. Keys seem to be more his thing and unless it opens a portal to his Queen's realm, it really seems to have no purpose to the revenant.

Corydimbiddle spends time healing everyone and then asks about other kidnap victims. One of the crossbow women answers. "All the others have been sold already or died before they could make it."

One of the hobgoblins looks on as Harkin prods the chains and manacles in the center. "I wouldn't get too close to those chains. They're somehow scary, almost like they know you're there or something." As Harkin stands over the chains, a single drop of blood falls from his clothes onto the chains. He jumps back in surprise as they shiver in reaction and the drop of blood is absorbed into the metal.

Another hobgoblin answers Harkin's other question. "Don't know what we should do. I reckon someone should go find Tra'ak and tell him Krand's not leading anymore. Didn't he say he'd leave one of his men at Rothar's Taproom in the Hall? Yeah, that's right, I'll get going." he promply finishes and leaves the Chamber of Eyes.

Demuriath passes on the key from Krand, giving it to Corydimbiddle. All of you feel very exhausted after all those battles, especially now that your adrenaline levels are subsiding. You would love to lie down and rest, but feel this collection of rooms the Bloodreaver's used as a hideout would not be safe. Perhaps the Halfmoon Inn would be better. Of course, you can't leave before looking around more and finding out what happened to the other Winterhavians. The dire wolf, having realized that battle is over, lies down in a corner and appears to be resting although its eyes dart around, often following Harkin's every move.

OOC: I went with Josh's proposed healing. EDIT: Addressed Harkin's other question about what the Bloodreaver's will do next. BTW, you can ignore the positions of enemies on the maps, I'm leaving it there so you can navigate the various rooms.
