OOC: Taking Kurvilis' and Sentinel's turns as per Josh's suggestion. Sentinel will delay until after Kurvilis.

Heaking Lan, Sentinel decides it's best to finish this battle quickly, especially since he is not very familiar with human anatomy. However, he decides to see if his friend Kurvilis can drag the hive lord back between them. Noting Sentinel's signal, Kurvilis sends off another phantasmal bolt at the hive lord, both hitting and sliding it up. Sentinel then swings Ashurta's Blade with a booming undertone.

Kurvilis Standard: Phantom Bolt vs hive lord, +1 24h, +2 CA from hitting last turn, sliding hive lord up one space to N4 on a hit. (1d20+8+1+2=25, 1d8+5=11)

Sentinel Standard: Booming Blade vs hive lord, +2 CA (1d20+10+2=18, 1d8+5=7) on a hit and if hive lord moves away from Sentinel it will take an additional 1d6+3 thunder damage

Kurvilis penetrates the kruthik's mind and nearly kills it (11 damage to Hive Lord and grants CA to Kurvilis UENT). Sentinel, meanwhile, feels the acid burn and can't quite penetrate the hive lord's scales (5 dam to Sentinel, Save vs. Weakened/OGD (1d20+2=21) ).

As Lan falls unconscious he calls out in his mind, Harath? I have failed. Your existence and mine are now in the hands of three strangers I met. Forgive me." before dreamless slumber takes over his consciousness. The kruthik acid continues to burn through his skin, although Lan doesn't appear to fall too deeply near death.

Save vs OGD (1d20+1=9)
Save vs dying (1d20+1=16)

His companions come to his side, doing what they can for him.
Heal skill standard action, DC10, allows ally to use his/her second wind (Kurvilis, Sentinel, Khav). (1d20+1+1=19, 1d20+2+1=11, 1d20+1+1=9)

2nd save vs OGD (1d20+1=7)

3rd save vs OGD (1d20+1=16)

Once awake and out of danger, Lan seems disoriented as if his mind wasn't completely focuses. A few moments later, he looks around and thanks his companions for helping him. "Now let's see if I can't ease all of our pain." he says, closing his eyes as he touches each companion briefly. Breathing in relief, he looks around the chamber. "I suppose we'd best destroy these kruthik eggs now. Let's also take a look at that body over there and find out what that shiny object is." he declares and heads over to the corpse and shiny object.

OOC: I've gone ahead and rolled a few rounds in advance to make this "clean up" process easier. Lan's 1st save rolls result in no change at all. His allies try to heal him with conventional means and succeed in allowing him to use his second wind, bringing Lan to 8 hp. His second save vs OGD fails and he takes 5 damage down to 3 hp. His third save vs OGD succeeds so Lan is down to 3 hp, 5/9 surges, and 0/3 failed death saving rolls for the day at that point.
I then proceeded to roll all the healing rolls and listed updated statuses. After that, Lan will search the corpse and examine the shiny object.

After some effort, Lan is finally out of danger and heals the rest of the group. Lan looks around the room a bit. He can see that there is a silver necklace hanging in a mucus sheet (marked by T). Also, he glances at the corpse from far away, seeing that it looks more fresh than even the blood they saw at the entrance to the tomb. The corpse looks torn with bite marks all over (marked by C).

OOC: Thanks, Viktor! I am giving just brief descriptions for now. If you want to check anything closer let me know. The various things that are obviously of interest are the corpse and necklace. In addition, I will need to know what you do with the eggs and any other searching of mucus, rubble, floor, and walls along the way.

Deciding to be cautious, Lan sheathes his falchion and unstraps his glaive. Keeping at least five feet between him and the kruthik eggs, he proceeds to smash them starting with the nearest ones. While doing so, he recalls that Sentinel wanted to keep some for research and desists from destroying them all. Along the way, he pokes and rummages with his glaive inside the mucus and rubble he passes.

Perception (searching the area) (1d20+4+1=15)

OOC: Not sure we generally need to roll for area searches, but who knows.

Lan and Kurvilis start looking through the room in earnest. Lan crushes a few of the eggs, but makes sure to save a few for Sentinel to examine. When Lan presses his glaive into one of the rubble piles, it collapses, almost on top of him, but he narrowly avoids the refuse. He can see that some of the rubble is made of stone and rocks, while other pieces are bones. Some of those bones look to be humanoid. He is able to find two healing potions, and some coins...2 GP and 38 SP, all of obvious Darguun mintage.

Kurvilis look in the mucus and grabs out, carefully, an amulet of protection +2 (level 6 item...not meant for anyone in particular). The pendant has a leering goblin face on it. Both Lan and Kurvilis step carefully towards the body.

OOC: You gained 837 XP (209.25 XP each), giving you 10918.2 XP total (2729.55 XP each). Also, this was your last encounter before Scott joins you, but there will be some RP stuff before then.

OOC: Will this also be an opportunity for our rebuilding? I'm looking forward to being a thief. :)

Khav has no neck item and could use the amulet, but it isn't a super-priority for him. He's already got a level 5 Deathcut Leather Armor, so if someone hasn't gotten something or what they've gotten is lower level than his armor, feel free to claim the amulet.

OOC: Sorry, if I wasn't clear. I do want the PDF of the CS. But I can't look in the compendium at the moment, so I can't easily look up the text of the new powers. If you have any that deviate in a recognizable way from what is on the CS (ie the power summary doesn't really do it justice, or sometimes on feats and racial/class abilities it doesn't tell you much), then I would like that text as well.

As Lan and Kurvilis get near the mutiliated body, they can tell that this kill definitely occurred in the last couple of days. Kurvilis seems to think that some of the features look familiar, although, it is obviously more human than gnome. Meanwhile, Lan feels like the body is familiar, as if he has seen it in a mirror. Stepping closer, both can see a precise slash across the neck that could not have been made by the mouth or claws of any kruthiks you have seen so far.

Going cold all over, Lan's face becomes impassive as he has a strong sense of horrible premonition. Fearing the worst, he directs his feelings within while reaching out with his mind to probe the corpse. "Harath....brother....can you perceive us?"

Suppressing a sigh as deep sadness enters his heart, Lan steps forward and examines the body carefully. He particularly looks for any hidden seams in the clothes or any clues to explain why a soul-brother of his might have been down here.

Unfortunately, Lan cannot find anything of import on the corpse. If he wants to find out what happened, his investigation will have to start somewhere else. After searching the rest of the room, the only thing left is to determine what is to be done about the eggs.

OOC: For what it's worth, I don't think Nathan is posting for at least another week. So, if the group wants to destroy the eggs, or destroy some and take some, you will have to make that decision without him.

Looking at Sentinel, who seems to have entered some sort of silent self-diagnostic moded, Lan decides to stow two small kruthik eggs for him, not sure it's the best idea. Remembering the man who tasked them to come down her, Lan makes sure the eggs are well hidden and covered over with some bloody and muddy rags.

He then looks around one last time, making sure none of the other eggs are intact. "I think that takes care of the imminent kruthik threat down here. Who could have known we would also encounter Ashurta and these ruins down here. Strange that we never found a lock for this old key we found in that first chamber with the pile of skulls." he says, fingering the key he pocketed. "I wonder if there's anywhere else we need to investigate, although I think we'd better not get into more than one skirmish at most."

OOC: Is there any tunnel/room we haven't been too? I've had the "Old Key: found in chamber with pyramid of skulls" written in my stat block since the first battle down here; do we know what the key is for? I think we could at most survive one more battle before an extended rest if it's not too tough. Josh, please move things along out of this dungeon if that was actually it.

OOC: You have been everywhere. I didn't even realize you thought you had a key. That key was actually only mentioned in the journal. The journal keeper said that they had a key to the tomb entrance.

After Lan helps collect a couple of kruthik eggs for Sentinel, the rest are destroyed.

After a short trek back through the tunnels, the four of you make your way to Tain Foundry. You see a guard you recognize, and he calls out, "You are back. Molric will want to see you." He turns around, not waiting, and quickly walks towards Molric's office.

You enter the office and Molric and Olaaki are both there. "So, you survived. After you didn't come back last night, we thought you wouldn't make it back. But here you are. Is it done?"
